Although the participants were instrumental in these en- deavors, there has been a strong and guiding force which propelled them on to greater heights of achievement. This inspiration has been found constantly in the person of the Director of Girls' Physical Education and Coach, Mrs. Charlotte Clendaniel. As a small token of our appreciation for what you have done for so many students, we, the Class of1963, dedicate Quo Vadis, 1963 to you, Mrs. Clendaniel. It is our humble way of indicating to everyone our thoughts about your dedication to North Carroll High School. This devotion was not merely to the development of a "winner," but to your primary concern of building a student's mind as well as her athletic ability. Whether it has been in interscholastic, intramural, or in in- dividual competition, you have continually stres- sed the proper attitude rather than the material gain. It is this ideal that has impressed so many students in our class and those which have pre- ceded us. It is impossible to estimate what your example and counsel have meant to the innumerable stu- dents whom you have served so faithfully. We can only acknowledge the fine work which you have done, and hope that you will continue to main- tain the high standards which you have established at North Carroll. . 1 ' f ,. JOHN C. GRAYBEAL Mr. Graybeal, now in his third year as principal of North Carroll, has been instrumental in strength- ening and expanding the course of study. The addition of the junior high and the art department, plus the expansion of the French course have helped to make our school program broader and more com- plete. We acknowledge and ap- preciate the fine work being done by Mr. Graybeal. MR. GEORGE BA KER As vice principal, Mr. Baker contributes greatly to the prop- er functioning of the school. Aside from heading the social studies department, he very responsibly handles other as- pects of daily school life. He supervises the cafeteria opera- tions, checks attendance re- ports, and enforces driving reg- ulations. With this capable as- sistance of Mr. Baker, our school's efficiency is consist- ently maintained. MR. LOREN S. SIMPSON The obligation of guiding and counseling the students of North Carroll falls upon the dependable shoulders of Mr. Loren Simpson. His position as guidance counselor enables him to work closely in conferring with stu- dents and advising them in personal and ac- ademic problems. He also helps them in deciding and preparing for their future vo- cations. We are deeply grateful for the aid offered by Mr. Simpson. SE? sk GRM, EHTEQQ 2' . F FACULTY LANGUAGE ARTS MR. Rear: ascending order, Aldra Lauter- bach, Historian, James Getty, Lamar Ensor, Gerald Tarutis, Justus Denner, Courtney Craft, Vice President. SENIOR CHALLENGE As our high school days change from present to past, we foresee the many opposing forces which will challenge us. Thus far in our lives, parents, teachers, and friends have helped to prepare us to meet these challenges. It is now up to each of us to take the wheel and steer our lives in the direction that we choose. With limited experience and a fundamental accumulation of knowledge we must enter this everlasting challenge of life. 36 Irene Grace Bachrnan Sharon Elaine Benge Dorothy Jean Berry Alice Lane Blevins Stella May Boone Carolyn Elaine Qanoles Patricia May Davidson Bonnie Lucille Floyd Elaine Louise Folk Sandra Louise Fridinger Frances L. This activity is coordinated by the ninth grade teachers and the officers of each ninth grade homeroom. New students seem puzzled with the surroundings of the General Science laboratory. A tour of the Industrial Arts Shop is interesting to both boys and girls. The culmination of the evening's activities: A record hop!
