The science of agriculture is finding increasing application on the farms, in processing plants, in manufacturing plants, and in the whole network of sales and distribution of agricultural products in North Carolina. No longer does agricultural science apply only to farms. Men trained in the biological sciences and agricultural sciences are finding employment in a wide variety of industrial, professional, and farming activities. Graduates of the School of Agriculture are molding many of the changes which are taking place so rapidly and which are building a greater North Carolina. Likewise, they are finding their place in other parts of the nation as leaders in their respective fields. Agriculture can no longer be characterized by the mule and the plow. The agricultural leaders of today are those with mastery of the biological sciences, chemistry, agricultural engineering, agricultural business management, public policy and the techniques of efficient plant and animal production, processing and marketing. The young men and women of North Carolina have the talent and the School of Agriculture provides the training. Throughout the state and nation there is a demand and a willingness to pay for those with both the talent and the training.
