FADUM Civil SCHOOL OF EflGinEERinG The School of Engineering is an integral part of and is vitally concerned with the state ' s economic development through the training of its youth and the utilization of it natural resources. This progessive and effective program is made possible by a staff of teachers and research workers who are nationally recognized in their scientific field. With the recent addition of a modern, well-equipped engineering laboratories building, many new services are being offered both students and industries throughout the state. These and many other excellent, progressive activities can be counted on to offer leadership in the training of our young people as well as to further industrial activity in North Carolina. J. H. LAMPE, Dean

HENRY L. KAMPHOEFNER, Dean SCHOOL OF DESIGH The School of Design is devoted to the development of a native art form in the practical and useful arts to meet the needs and conditions of the Southern Regions. Professional courses of study are now offered in Architecture and Land- scape Architecture. A third department of Products and Production is being planned for the very near future. The new Department will actively collabo- rate with a number of presently organized Departments on the campus who are now engaged in management and production, and will concern itself with problems of form and aestetics as related to the design of products and the production of products. As the only Department of Architecture in the most progressive State in the South and the only Department of Landscape Architecture in the region, the opportunities are unlimited for the school ' s graduates to con- tribute to the solution of problems in building design, planning and general construction. In memory of MR. MATTHEW NOWICKI, former Head of the Department of Architecture, who was killed in a plane crash in August, 1950. As yet Mr. Nowicki has not been replaced. EDWIN G. THURLOW Head of the Department of Landscape Architecture

Industry ' s ever-growing demand for well-trained young men and women in the field of Textiles has placed the graduates of this school at a very high premium. The graduates of today are well on their way to positions of leadership. They follow the footsteps of the very many graduates who now serve the industry in various responsible executive capacities. Their multifold achievements attest in a large measure to the success of a sound and progressive educational program. DEPfiRTIDEnT HERDS MALCOLM E. CAMPBELL, Dean C. M. ASBILL Research Engineer E. B.
