We proudly present this volume to MISS MARY W, DAVIS THE STAFF FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT'S DESK This last bit of advice for the class of '55 comes from the byways of everyday living, and not from a textbook. If they forget their Algebra and French, I hope they can remember the following: ' 4 1. Be cheerful. If you have worries, disappoint- ments, or pains, try to hide them behind a pleasant smile. ...N f 2. Always try to say something kind about other h people. 3. Live up to your promises. 4. Control your tongue, it can ruin you in a mat- ter of moments. 5. Pay no attention to those who criticize you. 6. Leam to discuss but do not argue. Egbert N. Peeler, Superintendent A WORD FROM THE PRINCIPAL I should like to express some hopes foreach of you as you leave this cross-road and move on ways be faithful to the best you know. Let me hope that you will never be self-seeking in your own pleasure nor indifferent to the needs of others. In the making of wise decisions, may you always be able to say "no" to what you know is wrong and "yes" to what you know to be right. In good living you will find a minimum of fears. T. E. Daniels 5031! anof fjesfamenf We the senior class of 1955 being of sound mind and in full possession of all our facul- ties do hereby make declare and publish this document as our last will and testament. We, having gone the last mile with our devoted teachers and friends, do now desire to dispose of our rights and privileges in the following manner, viz.: Item I To our beloved Alma Mater we leave our undying gratitude for the many noble services she has rendered us since we first entered her portals of learning, May her influence continue to follow us through life. Item H To our administrators, staff members and faculty we extend our deepest appreciation for what they have meant to us. Item HI In spite of the fact that most of us need to take all our points with us, we bequeath to the rising seniors the following: Ida Presnell hands down her study periods to Betty Jean Whitley and to Joyce Smith her seat in the French class, Ruth Lovett wills her mail- carrying job to Velma Keller, her sales job at the Knickle Knack to Bill Jacobs, and her soft speaking voice to Mack Hocutt, To Shirley Tester Zelia Chandler leaves her place in the voice class and to Pearlie Mayers her capacity for eating and staying slender. Jessie Ward wills her talent to piano playing to Lewis Modlin and her ability to do memory work to Robert Morris who would do it gladly for a little extra credit. George Carter passes on to Ike Collins his knack for learning French, to Carl Winchester his power of concenuation and to Bernice Mikeal his ability to stay awake in class, To the student body we leave our best wishes for their success both in school and in life.
