They hove already begun to see that their efforts to succeed were not in vain and that their attempts to climb the ladder of academic accomplish- ment were not futile. These students are entering their long-awaited Senior year, much richer because of the many mistakes and disappointments of the last three years. They also have many rewarding memories which serve as a monitor to them when they hear the venerable title of " Senior. They had heard much about college life. They soon learned that much of what they had heard was fact and still more was fiction. They found com- pulsory assembly attendance, the wearing of fresh- man beanies, and certain dormitory restrictions to be " thorns in their bed of roses. " Before long they began to grasp the real significance of college life and their experiences in and out of class became more meaningful to them. At the end of their freshman year, these students ore constantly developing into mature individuals, worthy of being called " Eagles. Through this year- book, the staff hopes that as the years pass, this 1958 Eagle will stand as a monument to your participation, your indulgence, and your stamina in the perseverance of your college training. We apologize for the inadvertent errors which we may have made, and in spite of them, we hope that you are proud of your Eagle — for this is the picture story of your life and contributions at North Carolina College for the school year of 1958.
