Graduation time for the 31 cmd the 13 more who were acquired on the way finally arrived this ear. Y Mr. Leidy was in charge of this place of learning for most of the 12 long years. For the first years we were under the leadership of Miss Bechtel and Miss Lytle. The following five years were used in learning the fundamentals of higher education. Our teachers for this peiod were Miss Roach, Miss Trout- Miss Alverna Fodey, Mrs. Dunn, Miss Ida Foley, Miss Tarr and Miss 1 er. In our seventh year we were taken up the stairs to get our first knowledge of study halls. The teachers were Mrs. Miller and Mrs. Sponsler. Mr. Chandler helpted us in our studies in the eighth grade, where we also leamed the principals of drawing and writing. In- the ninth grade we became freshmen, a name used to describe those with no greater wisdom than apprentices. It was in this year that we first chose our class officers. The officers were Hugh McCoy, Pat Swartz, Bonnie Sterling and Bonnie Campbell. ' The next year we became sophomores. The officers of that year were Bonnie Sterling, Pat Swartz and Ianice Clark. Then came our busiest year, our Iunior one. Our advisors were Mr. Bechtel and Miss McKelvey. Our officers were: Dudley Kramer, Ianis Blake, Pat Swartz and Helen Hoffsis. Our homeroom teacher was Mrs. Miller. We gave a three act comedy entitled "No Foolin' " and presented the seniors with a gay colorful banquet entitled "Circus". It was with great joy when at- last we entered our final year. Our spon- sors were Mr. Chilcote and Miss McKelvey. Our officers for this year were Gaylord Parsons, Helen Hoffsis, Bonnie Campbell and Ianice Clark. The home room teacher was Mr. Aldrich, our new English teacher. The seniors helped produce an Annual to leave in North Baltimore so that other classes might benefit from their shining example. On May 25, in the year of our Lord, 1950 we received our diplomas show- ing that weiwere no longer apprentices but educated men and women. After graduation we seniors took an educational sight seeing tour of the Great Lakes. 'A 5 f Q ROWEC X, f i wha, ' -QW The following lines are an excerpt from the book "Sweet Young Things", written by Pat Mildew which is the contraction of the names I. Mildew Fast and Pat Swartz, widow of the late Rudy Gazarek. Upon the tragic death of her husband, Pat retained her maiden name and teamed up with I. Mildew to write a book about their escapades in their youth. This ex- cerpt is taken from the chapter entitled "High School Days", in which the authors tell about their classmates, and what they are doing now. We may as well begin with our class president, Gaylord Parsons. He always wanted to be a lawyer and from what we hear the 'fDevil of the Divorce Courts" is doing well in his profession. He hasn't lost a case in five years and he's built up quite a practice in Reno. One of the features of the "Breakfast Club" broadcast these days is Freda Engle in her comic characterization of Aunt Fanny. Freda was always good at this sort of thing in. school. Speaking of radio the Class of '50 has another representative on the kilocycles. Mary Schlumbohm's program "Weep With Mary" may be heard on CBS every moming at ten. Mary always could manage a sympathetic tear and now she's making money at it. All of our classmates, however, aren't career girls. Mrs. Robert Bretz, the former Helen Hoffsis can be found at home with her seven child- ren on Pleasant Street in Fostoria. Two of the girls even got married before graduation, Phyllis Baltz Lawson is living in Iapan with her soldier husband, Leo, and Phyllis Palmerton Dennis is the proud owner of Wayside Nite Club, a very exclusive restaurant. , The Class of '50 has made itself felt in the entertainment world, too. The new matinee idol, Warren Ferguson's latest picture, "Sugarthroat Sings Again" is now showing in the Lyceum Theatre chain. Roger Swope's orchestra the "Farm Slickers" have packed the theatres all over the United States and their star vocalist Mad Mary Teatsorth is selling many records. Speaking of recording artists Darrell Gee and Norman Apple are making hay in the platter field too. The Twin Guitars are working for the Wrecca Recording Company. As a sideline they play three nights a week in Bill Smith's famous nite-spot "Smitty's Bar with Schmidts Beer". Speaking of Saloons, Evie and Carrie's Beauty Salon is doing a large business in North Baltimore. Carolyn Deter and Evelyn Campbell Paul are the proud managers. Their famous slogan is "Come to our Beauty Shoppe, We'll make you anew, so when you hear, "Hey, good looking", you'll know they mean you". This Beauty Shoppe is part of the Kelley En- terprise, a huge corporation headed by E. L. Kelley. Included in this vast company is the Chevrolet Motor Car Company. Gene isn't the only business man in our class, Kieth Rush is touring the country sell- ing his own product, No Blush. Audrie Rose Roach has completed her book "How To Control Your Temper In Ten Easy Lessons". It is already on the best-seller list. Now we have an excerpt from the chapter called "Sports' Page". Fred "Ivanhoe" Trout is playing fullback on the Cleveland Browns professional foot- ball team. He's been all-league back for two years. Cleveland attracted another of our class star athletes too. Frank "Poncho" Blake is bat boy for the Cleveland Indians. If he keeps trying he might make the second team yet. The Class of '50 is well represented on the dirt track too. Mac McCoy has won the In- dianapolis Speedway Race on May 30 for the last 3 years. His average speed of 540 miles per hour established a new track record. We will now return to the chapter "High School Days". Bonnie Sterling and Iane Benedict have joined the Government Diplomatic Corps. Bonnie is introducing greenhouses in India and lane is Consul to Chungking. It seems the Class of '50 was just full of Career girls. Bonnie Campbell is teaching in a large grade school in Cincinnati and Mary Harmon is superintendent of nurses aides at the new Wood County Hospital at Bowling Green, Ohio. Bob Wymer has followed in the footsteps of his famous comic-strip namesake, Wimpy. He is owner of Wimpy's Bullburgers Ballroom. Dud Kramer is also an up and coming young business man. He is running the Kramer Klip Ioint, an ultra-modem barber shop. In January Barbara Spillman alias Super-Duper-Knock'em for a Looper Woman, is de- fending her world wrestling championship. In contrast to the excitement of Barbara's career three of our classmates are settled in- to calm married life. Ioan and Ralph Gainsley are well on their way to raising a football team. They already have a backfield. Mrs. Marylin Chambers is living with her husband on a farm outside of Portage. Mrs. Ruth Phillips, is trooping along with her paratrooper hus- band Bob. Paul Miller Ir. is a well known New York society lawyer. He is still unmarried and his name is mentioned in the gossip columns in connection with a different girl ever week. If you happened to read "Torrid Romances" for March 1959, you probably read" I was a Child Bubble Dancer", written by Sylvia Norihrup. The magazine carries her stories sever- al times a year. Noreen Chapman is a prima-donna with the Metropolitan Opera Company. Her spec- ialty is Helen Traubel's famous role "Isolda". If a fuller brush man knocks on your door tomorrow it just might be Don Davis, Super- sIa!lesmiruriarHe operates out of New York where he lives with his wife, Martha, and their t ee c '. en. Ianice Clark is now residing in Salt Lake City, Utah. You know, that in Utah you can have two husbands and Ianice never could make up her mind. If you happen to visit the United States Supreme Court you will probably notice a very busy young woman recording everything that is said. This young woman is Miss Alice Bils, official court clerk. Frank Toth owns Sunny Acres, a 400 acre farm just west of North Baltimore. He has been very successful at farming. Mrs. Mel Straley, the former Bev Woessner, drives a cab for Mel's Taxi Service when their children are in school. Mrs. Ianis Dukes is working in the school office at N. B. H. S. She always did seem to like the school office. Miss Doris Ritter is still engaged after nine years. She is running an elevator in the Nat- ional Bank Building. Lawrence Vandersall married Lois and is district manager for the Allis-Chalmer Imple- ment Company.
