J they tied Fort Cherry 13-13. In the Mars game. the first string turned the second half of the game over to the rest of the team members for a victory of 27-0. The first setback of the season came with Shaler defeating us 20-13, in an exciting battle. New Brighton fell before the Tiger onslaught, 28-13. ln the mud at Beaver, we were defeated 13-0, and the , next week, at home, in the rain and mud again we were defeated 13-0 by Bethel. Our last game of the season at Kiski, ended in a tie, 6-6. The excellent training of the coaches, the hard work of the whole team, and the increased school spirit contributed to the 1959 football season. Coach Fox and Coach Drazenovich FIRST ROW: C. Riley J. Through the continuous efforts of the officers and homeroom representatives, many just talked about items came into reality and North Allegheny now has many added facilities. Besides takinf' care of government, Council also provided the students with interesting assemblies and in co-operation with the band and football team, a movie camera to record memorable events at North Allegheny. September of 1959, brought to North Allegheny a new system of electing school officers, the electorial system. Students interested in serving as school officers were seen scurring around with paper, pencil, and a .38 revolver in order to gain signatures on their petitions. Following the signing of the petitions came the flood of banners, campaign slogans, and most important of all the campaign speeches in which all the eligible candidates expressed their ideas to the students. Out of this election came senior Hal Wrigley' as President. Tom Kiley got the position of the Vice President. Holding down the Secretarial jobs were Ruthanne Evans, Corresponding Secretary and Judy Reuter, Recording Secretary. In charge of the school money was Jeanne Arnold. Also Council had a new man to guide them in the person of Mr. Duncan. In Student Council, each homeroom elected one person to represent them. This way each student could express his desire to his representative who would in turn bring it before the Student Council. To handle the problems that arose permanent Sub-committees were formed. They were: Public Relations, Publicity, Programs and Assemblies, Building and Grounds, and Financial and Traffic Committees. Special committees would be formed to handle any foreseen problems not covered by regular sub-committees and as a result every problem was thoroughly covered. SAFARI STAFF Bell Few people realize the hard work and the num- ber of hours behind our yearbook. Members of the staff had to place Safari meetings before all the other activities and devote much outside time to the production of the Safari. Jim Boston, Editor-in-chief and Literary Editor. had the hard job of keeping the whole staff at work to meet deadlines. Other members of the literary staff are: Ed Servick, Judy Cain, Janet Neeley. Suzanne Atwell. Loretta Sierka, Carol Schiller, Peg' gy McNaugher, Jon Bell, and Gene Speer. Layout Editor, Judy Auld and her staff drew up the final plans for the book.
