Department In the Greenhouse The greenhouse on the south end of the junior building is a real boon to the junior high science classes. This enables the students to study plants all year around. Book-Learning After they collect their impressions from what they see in the greenhouse, these iunior students look up references on the subject to see how nearly correct their inferences are The experience that others have written into books, plus their own observation, gives them a real knowledge of the subject. Chemistry Experiment Working individually and in pairs, chemistry students find out experi- mentally the whap and tow of chemical reaction. Their study is con- cerned chiefly with important industrial processes. Biology Class Biology students not only study in- sects and animals but also the trees and plants found in this district. Science Etching Aluminum This is an example of the extra- curricular activities growing out ot class work. Students who are sincerely inter- ested take part in meetings ot the Junior Academy ot Science tor one ot which this aluminum display is being prepared, Watch Out! It Will Blow Up A scene such as this is common to the chemistry laboratory on Tuesday and Friday, Such experiments not only teach the student the fundamental laws ot chemistry, but also help him to organize his work systematically and draw logical conclusions. Inspecting Lepidoptera By studying various forms ot animal lite, these biology students hope to learn more about the habits ot the members ot the animal kingdom and their rela- tions to man. Physics Experiment In the study ot physics, students spend a good deal ot their time working on experiments such as pictured here.
