Jarrett. , I DUNCAN MILLER Head of Music Department Qfwdw Girls' Glee Club, the freshman and sophomore choral organization, has finished a very successful year. The fifty-eight members of this group com bined with mixed choir for such occasions as the concerts and contest. Officers for this year were Phylis Patton, Presidentg Maxine Reed, Vice- Presidentg and Becky Chance, Librarian. Phylis Patton and Becky Chance were the accompanists. 18

Zami Under the able direction of Mr. Duncan Miller, the Normal Community High School band provided much pleasure and entertainment for the students and faculty members. Participating in the I.S.N.U. Homecoming parade and band contest, it received trophies for the best playing band and the best overall performance. The appearance of the band at all home football and basketball games added pep to these events. The 107 members of the band combined with the choir to provide the traditional Christmas concert. In the spring another fine music concert was given by the music department. Included in the social events of the music department were a chili supper given by Mr. and Mrs. Duncan Miller and the annual spring picnic. Student librarians perform a very useful service to the school. They do all of the work at the circulation desk, help process new books for all of the schools of the Unit, and guide other students with their reference questions and recreational reading. Many times they are in charge of the library when it is necessary for the librarian to be away from school. Without their assistance many service would have to be curtailed. Some interesting experiences have been enjoyed by the student li- brary assistants this year. They have been in charge of a program at WJBC and of a Parent Teachers Association meeting. There is now a state organization of student library assistants which meets once a year.
