Mr. Ben Gildersleeve - Member of the firm Gil- dersleeve Sz Son Hybrid Seed Corn Company. Mr. Lander Van Gundy - Owner and Manager of the Van Gundy Insur- ance Agency. The Board of Education is the policy making body of the school district. Its members are elected by the people of District 348 for terms of three years each. The president and secretary are elected by the members for terms of one year each. The Board of Education derives its powers from the State Legis- lature. It is empowered to handle the business of the local school dis- trict in such matters as levying taxes, approving the budget, em- ploying teachers, buying supplies, etc. All general policies for the op- eration of the school must come from the Board of Education. Regular monthly meetings are held by the Board at which time bills are allowed and all problems pertaining to the school are thor- oughly discussed. The regular meeting of the N. C. H. S. Board of Education is held the second Monday of each month. Special meetings may be called by the pres- ident at any time. The men who serve on our Board render valuable service to our com- munity, devoting much time and effort to the work of the school, all without pay of any kind. Nor- mal Community High School is fortunate in having such men will- ing to accept such civic responsi- bility.
