SEIIEIEHEE lillSiilElli'.l? On September 3, 1946, seventy-five grown-up seniors rushed importantly into Normal Community High School, impatient and perhaps a little sorry, too, to begin the last year of their high school career. After renewing acquaintances with our friends and teachers, our first move was to hold a class meeting and elect officers. Emerging victoriously were George Zook as president, George Hinshaw, vice-presi- dent, and Keith Irons, secretary-treasurer. Our class sponsor was Mr. Masters. Miss Forsythe, Miss Brown, Mr. Middleton, and Mr. Miller assisted him. After class elections and opening day assignments, we jumped right into numer- ous activities without even a moment's hesitation. Members of our class were active in band, chorus, athletics and N club, F. F. A., F. H. A., I. A. T. A., Science Club, Dramatics and National Thespians, Reverie and Inlcspot staffs, Student Coun- cil, and National Honor Society. A stunt night was held to start the Homecoming festivities. Each class entered an original skit. Mary Jane Hinshaw, and Lois McKinney wrote a phantasy in rhyme, and the seniors came out victorious, winning first place and gaining possession of the Stunt Night trophy for a year. This year it was our turn to sponsor the Home- coming Dance. Working hard at the beginning of the year by selling candy, ice cream, and soft drinks at the football games, we finally obtained enough money to finance the dance. Joan Hinkle was crowned queen. Since we had an over-abundance of money in our treasury as a result of the Home- coming dance, we decided to have an informal senior banquet. The event was held May 9, at the Rogers Hotel. This year we tried something different in the way of commencement. We gave the entire commencement program ourselves. Instead of having the traditional guest speaker, six speakers were chosen from the senior class. Musical selections between the speeches featured only members of the graduating class. And now we have come to the days of parting-the end of our high school ca- reer. In our minds are memories of the friends we have made and of the happy days we have spent in the classroom, at athletic events, at parties, and of everything we have participated in at N. C. H. S. Each of us will follow his own way and try to be a credit to those who have guided us through our four years of high school ac- tivities. To our Alma Mater, our friends, and our teachers, we say, Good luck, and farewell. '

JHNEUHS This year eighty-six of us returned as juniors, starting the year energetically as upperclassmen by electing as our leaders Bill Linden, president, Jane Callahan, vice-president, Marilyn Tate, sec- retary, and Lois Klump, reporter. Our able sponsors were Mr. Legg, Mr. Diveley, Miss Hoose, Mrs. Galbreath, and Miss Springer. Representatives on the Student Council were Margaret Brown, Varda Warren, Jean Ann Kewley, Louis Siebert, Bill Linden, and Milton Olson. In November we sponsored a very successful all school party, using as the theme a gypsy camp. In an effort to raise money for the Junior-Senior Prom, we sponsored a Stunt Night on the Thursday night before Homecoming. In collaboration with the N Club, we industriously sold candy and soft drinks at all our football and basketball games. The carnival was another project undertaken by us to increase our funds. The General Prom Committee was kept busy making preparation for the bigger and better than ever before Prom. Those serving on this committee were Dick Britt, Margaret Brown, Marvin Dunn, Marjorie Gates, Bill Linden, Jean Ochs, Melvin Scarberry, Marilyn Tate, Sally Veatch, Varda Warren, Cliff Wilcox, Jeannine White, and Lois Klump. We have also been well represented in the athletic department, the music department, the dra- matics department, the Inlcspot Staff, the Reverfie Staff, and the Honor Society. With the able as- sistance of two Juniors, the cheerleaders also did a commendable job. We now eagerly await the coming year when we shall return again as seniors. M Q . 1 2
