Soplwmoae Qlwu Jluiofuf When vacatlon was over and school began we were Sophomores nearly 110 of us After we had our electlon battle and the smoke had cleared away we had the following results Presldent Allen Beyer Vlce Presldent Jlm Pemberton Secretary Treasurer Imogene Fisher Mlss Elsle Lux our new Home Economlcs teacher was soon chosen sponsor The Sophomores had a flnger 1n practlcally all school events Were well represented ln all sports by the followmg boys Baseball Mead Dlllon and Bunn Football Mlller Pa neltz Bunn Hansen Gehrt Beyer Ross Dlllon Crockett Smlth Moore Sllvey Basketball Hansen Pemberton Crockett Paneltz Ross Reed Zelger and Dxllon Many Sophomore glrls were members of G A A Helena Gexstl was G A A secretary The muslc department also clalmed some of our good muslclans they were Orches tra Sanders Crandall Martin Blcknell Rhmehart VanW1nkle Blll Lusher and Gehrt Band Gehrt Powers Crandall Keefe Mead Rhmehart Blll Reeter Luden Brockhouse llrIlX9d Chorus Moore Wllllams Bxll Watkms In H1 Trl Helen Severson Marlan Moore and Eleanor Wlnker were offlcers of one group and Barbara Parret Dorothy Engllsh and Eleanor Schwartz of the other group In the annual H1 Trl pencll sale Eleanor Schwartz sold the most penclls She recelved a candld camera Better watch out' M M Peddlcord and Janet Taylor were chosen to be on the assembly commlttee Whlle Allen Beyer represented us on the soclal functlons commlttee Two Sophomores were chosen to be on the Reverle Staff They are Art Edltor Barbara Parret and Sophomore Editor Janet Taylor Some Sophomores were lnvxted to the annual Honor Soclety party glven for the people ln the upper quarter of thelr classes But when m1d year lnstallatlon came no Sophomores were mstalled So we only have our members from last year M J Freese B Parret R Looklng over the people who worked on the NCHS News staff I found the followmg Pemberton Gehrt Hardin Wlnker Zehr Freese Hartenbower Sexerson and Parret Mlss Lux s home room had a nlce treat one day because they won the box of candy gnen to the home room selllng the most tlckets to Peck s Bad Boy And speaklng of Peck s Bad Boy the Sophomores were able to furmsh the bad boy Dan Gehrt Eleanor Wlnker was also ln the play M M Peddlcord was asslstant dlrector Elght Sophomores were on the crews In the sprlng play Marcheta D3Y1d Drake and Blll Lusher had parts Agaln the asslstant dlrector was a Sophomore Eleanor Wlnker They must be good' There were some Sophomores ln every club except one the Llbrary Club In the Cam era Club all of the offlcers were Sophomores They were presldent Hanson vlce presldent Beyer secxetary Marian Moore Other Sophomore offlcers ln other clubs were Luden vlce president of Projectlonlsts Helen Sewerson presldent and Ruth Hardin secretary of Jour nallsm Barbara Parret v1ce presldent and Josephlne Gregory secretary of Home Eco nomlcs Daud Drake secretary of Dramatxcs To help up get out of debt and have a llttle money for the treasurer to Jlngle ID the box we held a cookie sale We made about nlne dollars and twenty four cents which helped out nicely Mary J Freese was chalrman of the commlttee for baking and Allen Beyer for deln ery One of our annual ewents IS to entertam the Freshmen Thls we dld ln the form of a Mock Sports Party held December 1 MISS Hooses room had charge of entertainment Q Thats Rxght You re Wrong l Mr Balleys of decoratlon Mr Moores of txckets and Marx J Freese Mary M Peddmcord and Mlss Lux had charge of the refreshments The party was enjoyed by all who attended So tlll we meet agaln as Juniors Good Bye' I I' It I V . . . v 1 9 1 ' r . . .
