BAND Whenschool began in September, there were twenty-six students in Senior Band. Of these, only eleven were high school students. Most of the others had not played in Senior Band before. The group now numbers thirty-five Various members of the Senior Band have played as a pep band for practically all of the home basket-ball games. The Senior Band par- ticipated in the band clinic at Lenora. The Beginners Band, including students from third grade up, has a membership of twenty. Although the instrumentation in Senior Band is quite incomplete, the Beginners Band has a wide variety of instruments. Several of the beginners have already moved into Senior Band which, in another year will have a good representation of instruments. The two bands have been having combined rehearsals and will give a concert early in May. There are now fiftyeone students playing in- struments The combined band will take part in the Memorial Day Ceremonv A baton class is held during the noon hour three days a week Twelve girls are participating in the class They will perform at the concert The highlight of instrumental music at N H S is the dance band, which now has a membership of eleven This grou has already made a reputation for itself and is gaining in popularity MUSIC The vocal music groups included all high school students except four They took part in the vocalnmsic festival at Jennings The climax of the voacl department was their presentation of the musical comedy, nHearts and Gowns W This was presented to very appreciative audiences Several of the cast members did solos for the fuettnw The girls sextet has made two public appearances and will sing at commencement and Baccalaureate Their activities have been limited PEP CLUB The Pep Club has been very active this year, backing the teams at all times At the close of football season the Pep Club held a banquet in honor of the team This year the girls were on a point system to earr letters All members will qualify The combined efforts of the Peo Club and Pep Band added to the games -A o ,o o .. , A o no o o o a o n I o o . . . . . . . 1 n o . . . n o Y 0 a L c ggggi,
