HCM THE F F A ORGANIZATION OPERATIE The F F A is composed of chartered State associations which, 1n turn a.re made up of local chapters situated in high schools havmg departments of vocational agriculture The boys enrolled in such courses constitute its active membershlp but provislon 13 also made for associate and honorary membership Membershlp is entirely voluntary There are four grades or degrees of active membership Green Han of membership are contingent on d6fil'l1tB accomplishment in connection with the vocational agricultural program of the school Local chapters determine the individual's advancement in the first two grades of membership, the State determines the third, and the national organization confers the fourth degree Specific levels of attainment with respect of farming, earnings, investments, leadership, and scholarship are set up for each degree 'Phe F F A is self supporting Operating nationally on ten cents a year member dues, it has been in good financial shape from the very beginning Bills are paid pranptly and the national treasury maintains a safety balance at all times Many chapters operate thrift banks where systematic and regular member savings is encouraged Chapter inccme is often supplemented by various well chosen fund raising activities This means business training and experience The F F A 18 developing a trained leadership and a farm citizenry which serves and exerts an influence for good wherever found At the beginning of a new school term each local chapter sets up a program of work which is an outline of activities the chapter hopes to complete during the year Sane achievements of the Norcatur chapter as stated in the program of work have been the sponsoring of a school carnival, general improvement of the school area and giving a parent-son banquet These are only a few of the many activities a chapter tries to complete durmg the year Q u o h . 9 --, dll Chapter Farmer -- State Farmer -- and American Farmer .
