He was a good ball carrier, a fine defensive man, and an excellent passer and kicker. He also called signals from his running back position. This was his second letter. His playing gained him state wide recog- nition. His 99-yard run against Casey will long be re- membcred. LIZAN RYANS"Lean" was the only man on the squad this year who earned his third letter in football. He alter- nated at wing back and blocking back and his experience helped him in many ways. He is a senior. CLIITFORD KAPILLA-"Red" played regular tackle for his second successive year. His 175 pounds of "beef" was often felt by the opposition. He was especially good at opening holes in the opponents' line. He is a senior. IIIQRNAND GUYOT-"Gebo" played blocking back in his last year of high school football. His "pile-driving" on shore line bucks and improved defensive play will make him a hard man t'o replace. XVALTIZR NTIDDLFTON-"XX'alt" was regular in his last year on the team and proved to be a very valuable man. His determined and consistent play will be missed next year. l4l,UY17 l5l'.Vll.l.4"lSev" overcfme a si7e handicap and hx'- eame a regular in his senior year. He weighed only 124 pounds. His fight and determination more than made up for his lack of size, and he became a good guard. His play in the Kincaid game was outstanding. QIOHN KOSKO-"Casca" played his first year of football as a senior. He was aggressive enough as a guard or tackle to get in all the games and earn his letter. -. .4 34 Cil'liAl.l7 MlfllUCll'lKOff"Gcrald" was a 'cgular cntl in this. his junior year. He was adept at catching passes and developed into a fine defensive end. HARRY HOFF--"Harry," another junior, played the other end position. His height made him dangerous as a pass receiver and his all-around-end play was consistent. XVAYNIQ KOTTXVITZ4W'lienever Gerald or Harry weak- ened. "W"tynf"' more thrn plugged the end position. He played the entire Hillsboro game and turned in an excellent performance. He is also a junior. RALPH KlNGSI.lfY-"Ralph" played a good game at wing back this year. He was a hard driving offensive man and an outstanding defensive man. He was the hardest tacklei' on the squad. This is his junior year. ANDY GOUTKO-"Andy" eapably filled the fullhack post as a sophomore. His defensive line backing was sure and he could always be relied upon to pick tip a few yards every time he carried the ball. He played an out- standing game against Hillsboro. PAUL FURIMSKY--It took more than a cracked nose lu get "l'ood" out of the lineup as center. He was a sure passer and his defensive play was good. like Andy, he is a sophomore. LIUI.llliR'l' Nllil.lN--The third and last sophomore regular was "Melin" at guard. Needless to say, we expect good playing from these three fine sophomores in the next two years. "julia" was a rugged fighting guard and he learned a lot of football in his first year as a regular. Albert Curtis, a lialfluaek, and Harold Fox, a lineman, de- serve mention for getting into several games. They did not earn letters but watch them next year. ls - Play The Game Aflfvongfw ffm' wawrz uax 1101 3Ill't't'SXf'llI, Ill' um ,wlill sag ur' fwafl fl gon! hum. Xvilit-i Nlidtlltrtiii "NU CLUB The "N" Club is an honorary society for the Noltomis Redskin Athletes. A boy must earn a letter in football, basketball, baseball, or track, or be a team manager to be eligible for member- ship. A charter protects the best interests of the organivation. The new members are initiated each year by the remaining active members. lt is the ambition of every good American boy to make an athletic team. and therefore it is a high honor to belong to such a fraternity. This fact, among others, will keep athletics on a high level at Nokomis High School. CARNIVAL It is the custom each year for the "N" Club boys and their leaders to sponsor a Football Car- nival, turning the profits over to the Athletic Association. The boys did a fine job this year and turned in Z1 bounteous "pocket" from the shows, stands, and the like. Entertainment and amusement were made by the foolish, comical or romantic telegrams, the "guess-what-I-got" fish pond, the misleading rollette wheel, the "darn- the-luck" penny pitch and dart game, the never- failing-to-attract bingo stand, the inner-man satis- fying food stand, the softly-lighted, enticing night club with its swaying melodies issuing forth, and that amusing playlet, "Sophio Pillio." The fes- tivities reached a climax when the herald fwho failed to appearj announced King Bill and Queen Adeline with their court. After the crowning ceremony, June Ruffing sang "All American Girl", and the gala night was once more ancient history. Inair lion Iiilin koslw. A. A. has had another aetive year and enjoyed a full program. On Oct. 13 the senior girls had the fun of initiating the new members into the club. Nov. 19, the junior members served the senior mem- bers and the "N" Club a spaghetti supper. tl'T1ITlI11U'llD Miss Myerscough's apartment held the girls on Dee. 9 for the theatre and Christmas party. ln january there was supposed to be a sleigh ride-but no snow! However, Cupid didn't foil us as the Weather did, and we had a Valen- tine party on Feb. 9. March Z was the big night for the G. A. A. Booths and fun were set up for the "Penny Night." April 12 brought our Nlotlier-llatighter tea. .-Xpril 25, we all qwell. most allj rose early and enjoyed our "Buddy" breakfast. On Nlay 4, we completed a year of good times with a senior farewell party. The girls enjoyed a basketball playday at Pana on March 21. Nearly all the seniors will be eligible for their awards. This year we elected another MISS G. A. A., Nlary Ellen Hanisko. This girl is good in ath- letics, shows good sportsmanship, observes good health rules, etc. She is voted to this position by all fellow members. 11. 111t1111. li 1111f11111. The N. T. H. S. Bowling Team has had a more successful season this year than last. The girls are in second place in both number of games won and total number of pins downed. They have bowled the highest score for three games, third highest for a single game, and Adeline llohn- son, team captain, has placed third in the indi- vidual high single game and second in individual high three games. At the time this goes to press the season has not yet ended. The team is try- ing hard to "cop" first place, and to talse home the pri7e of about sixteen dollars. lfrb 141111: X lolwnsun, Xl. Piel..
