OLIVE Nokomis went to Mt. Olive on jan. 19, where a game turned out to be better than had been expected. The the half it was tied again with the score ten apiece. From into the lead and the score was 25-20 at the end. PANA On Jan. 25, Nokomis journeyed to Pana for a second er Pana was slightly off at this time and Nokornis was what fecky topped the list with ten points: Davito ran a close second with a Florini figured up eight and Orin succeeded in securing six with Geiss adding the other two. One can easily see that everyone was looping them through. Pana found themselves on the little end of a sccre reading 35-21. TAYLORVILLE Nokomis went to Taylorville on February 8. to try to give them a trimming on their own fioor as they had done at home. The game turned out to be very close all the way through. but Nokomis lacked four points when the final gun was fired. Davito showed up well as a tioor man and he was high point man as well. for lie put four held goals and one free throw through the hoop. lVlT. OLIVE Mt. Olive visited us to furnish competition forthe next combat which took place on the fifteenth of February. The game turned out to be a runaway, for Nokomis led by-a large margin throughout the game. Geiss played an excellent gamez he had ten points to his credit while Frefecky figured up twelve. and Davito. eight. The final score was 36 to 24 in favor of the red and black quintet. GILLESPIE Nokomis' next journey was to Gillespie where a tough game was fought to the very end. In the previous encounter with Gillespie, Nokomis won the game by a narrow margin but the tables turned this time and Gillespie won by four points. The game was very close throughout: the score was 5 to 6 in Gillespie's favor at the end of the first quarter and 12 to 11 in Nokomis' favor at the half-way margin. Gillespie again went in the lead in the third quarter by a score of 17 to 15 and the final score was 26 to 22 with them holding the margin. HILLSBORO Hillsboro visited us on March 4. for our last combat before the District Tour- nament. The Hillsboro-Nokomis game was a hard fought batt1e. Ferfecl-cy led the scoring list in the game with a total cf eight points and Davito -game next with seven. Florini played the best floor game. Nckomis led at the half-way margin by a score of 13 to 9. but the game took a decidedly different turn in the second half. DISTRICT TOURNEY Nokomis was a little more successful in this tournament than in the previous ones as she reached the semifinals before she was beaten by Taylorville. llerrick furnished the opposition for the first game. Nokomis used the second team through- rut and won by a large margin, Tl.is game was played on Wednesday, Mar. 6. and the next game was the following afternoon when the Nol-coinis boys encountered Pawnee. This game was decidedly easy. .ind Nokomis won by a large score. In the semi-finals the home boys ran up against some stiffer competition in the Taylor- 'sille team. At the end of the first quarter the ganie loo!-'ed as if it might be close, but Taylorville gradually widened the leading ziiargin. Thus the Nokomis basketball season was brought to i close.
