AlThough fearful of The upper classmen, They proved ThaT year by giving a dance, by placing second in The Queen ConTesT, and by playing an imporTanT parT in aThleTics, ThaT They were To be one of The mosT acTive classes To be graduaTed from N. H. S. I934-35 Greenies -WhaT a Thrill looking awe-sTruck aT The mighTy seniors, fearful of The Teachers, buT noT Tor long. ln Two weeks' Time The noisiesT class in high school hi+ Their sTride. As freshmen The class of '38 was ouTsTanding in every deparTmenT of school life. Their dances were The besT, They placed second in The King ConTesT. Gus Franklin was ouTsTanding in Track Taking almosT all The prizes won by Nogales in The Douglas Track meeT. The class under The sponsorship of Mr. L. Bellman wiTh Gerald Zenizo as presidenT was The mosT loyal group and The mosT acTive in high school. In I935-36. sTill under The able sponsorship of Mr. L. Bellman and wiTh Francisco Gonzalez as presidenT, The sophomores were popular and full of pep. Carlos Garcia was named All-Conference-Guard. OTher aThleTes were V. CoTa, M. Ahumada, E. Siddell, J. WaTkins, and Gus Franklin. ln baskeTball V. CoTa, Joe Gonzalez, and Gus Franklin were well known and promising. A. MaTiella was manager Tor ThaT year. ln dramaTics were M. Bird, R. BiboleT, P. Cohen, P. Parson, and F. Piquero. M. Bird, R. BiboleT, E. ITule, and Henry Arana Took parT in The Musical ConTesT held aT Bisbee. Members elecTed To The Junior Honor SocieTy were Leslie l-lardie, Lucy Jury, Roland BiboleT, MargareT Bird, and Cecilia TosTado. l936-37. Juniors! Upper Classmen. Proud of Their heriTage The slowly dwindling class of '38 Took The lead in everyThing. ln aThleTics, Harry Karns, a junior, was TooTball capTain. C. Garcia, M. Ahumada, J. WaTkins, V. CoTa, G. Franklin, and J. Gonzalez were ouTsTanding in TooTball and baslceTball. Leslie Hardy was manager in boTh sporTs. ln Their social life The juniors were ever successful in dances, plays, and sales. The class closed a successful year wifh fheir Junior Prom, which was held May 2l. The predominafing spirif was fhaf of a romanfic garden. Mr. B. Wallace as sponsor and Gonzalo Puchi as presidenf led fhe class fhrough a very successful year. I937-38 Seniors af lasfl Seniors! Can you beaf if. I'm graduafing.-Hey, you dumb freshman, whaf are you looking af me for, haven'f you ever seen a senior before? How can people be so dumb! And our faculfy! This group of now fiffy sfudenfs were found fo be fhe mosf loyal and acfive group in school. The senior play, The Ghosf Train, was fermed fhe mosf successful play ever pro- duced by any senior class. R. Bibolef, M. Bird, F. Gonzalez, H. Arana, W. Beffwy, E. Siddell, G. Farmer, R. Chernin, and Harry Morse were members of fhe casf. ln fhe King and Queen Confesf, eighf seniors were chosen as mosf popular sfudenfs in school. W. Beffwy was chosen Adobe King and R. Chernin Adobe Queen. Senior members of fhe courf were M. Bird, F. Piquero, E. Siddell, R. Bibolef, and F. Gonzalez. Seniors elecfed yell leaders were Henry Arana and Alfredo Mafiella. Their pep was evidenf af every game. In afhlefics M. Ahumada, E. Siddell, W. Beffwy and A. Beffwy were fhe besf fhe feam had. William Beffwy and Gus Franklin, also a senior, were capfains. Cecilia Tosfado, a hard worker, was elecfed Adobe Edifor. Alfredo Mafiella and Roberf Berrellez were co-sponsors of fhe Know-Hole gang, which was acfive fhroughouf fhe foofball season. Roland Bibolef, for fwo successive years presidenf of fhe Science Club, has efficienfly filled his posifion as Warcry Edifor. The seniors also sponsored fwo plays, Miss Sydney Carfon and The ThreshoId. The senior ball climaxed a successful year for fhe seniors and will long be remem- bered for fhis ball. Nof fo be oufdone by his brillianf class, Mr. Lon Bellman furned in a successful season in baskefball and a promising championship feam in fhe years fo come.
