Sometimes we see in the school simply the instrument for transferring a certain maximum quantity of knowledge to the growing generation. The school serves the living world. You should have developed those qualities which are of value for the welfare ot your community. That does not mean that individuality should be destroyed and that you are to become a mere tool ot the community. A community of standardized individuals without personal originality and aims would be a poor community, with possi- bilities for little further development. Your education should give you the capacity for independent acting and thinking, making you realize service to your community, wherever you may be, as one of your highest life problems. What you have contributed to your school community and what you will con- tribute aiter you leave school needs serious reflection.
