The season opened at Nocona September 17, when the Indians defeated Arlington, the runner-up in District 11-A, 14-13. On September 24, the Indians lost to Irving, district winners in 12-A, 13-0, at Irving. The Indians' chances for the season took a set-hack when Roper, a promising back, broke his leg in this game. October 1, the Indians won their first conference game, 27-0, at Newcastle. The dope bucket was completely upset October 8 when the Indians lost their second conference game to Jacksbcro, 14-0, on the home field. Handley. winner of District 11-A, oefeated the Indians, 13-0, at Handley on October 15. The Henrietta Bearcats invaded Nocona October 22, with a resulting 13-13 "ie, October 28 the Wichita Rowdies went home with the big end of an 18-6 score. At Decatur, November 12 the Tribe played an inspired brand of foot- ball, bringing home a 34-0 win.
