McClanahan takes honor for The senior class of 1973 would like to recognize the man who has done the most for our class. Last year as juniors, our class band together and earned the money to give the senior class of 1972 one of the best proms this school will ever see. In all sin- cerity, we could not have done this without all the time and leadership Mr. Paul McClanahan gave. We all felt the gratitude and thankfulness to him and we are now expressing it by this dedication. Mr. McClanahan also sponsors the Model U.N., which has earned recognition the last two years. He coaches the 1972 baseball team, which was Nitro’s first entry in the state tournament. With much gratitude and appreciation for his guidance and interest we dedicate the 1973 Nitronian to Mr. Paul Mc- Clanahan.

WILDCATS KNOCK AWAY TO STATE TOURNAMENT The 1972 Nitro High baseball season reached a peak during the State High School Tournament when the Wildcats advanced to play the Sherman Tide. But in the eyes of Coach Paul McClanahan and the team members, the regular season was rather disappointing, even though the Wildcats were over .500. Coach McClanahan felt that Nitro had the potential to be a Tournament winner. Nitro played its best baseball during the Sectional and Regional Tournaments after the end of the regular season. With wins over Dunbar, Western Champ St. Al- bans, and a thrilling victory over Conference Champs Dupont, the Wildcats went to Parkersburg, only to lose a close one to Seth.
