i l l l l E51 i ir COMMANDER J. B. DOOLITTLE Commander John Beecher Dolittle was born lVlarch 6, 1937, in New Haven, Con- necticut. He was commissioned Ensign, U. S. Naval Reserve through the NROTC Contrct Program upon receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree from Brown University in June, 1958. He served as a Deck Division Officer aboard the USS FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT CCVA 425 from July 1958 until June 1960, when he was released from active duty. He was recalled to active duty in April 1961 and served in the Bureau of Naval Personnel until September 19 3. Commander Doolittle's next duty was in the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations COffice of Naval Intelligence? where he served from october 1963 to February 1966. He then attended the IVlarine Cor s Amphibious Warfare School at Quantico, Virginia from lVIarch 1966 to July 1986. Commander Doolittle then served as Operations Officer of USS UVALDE CLKA 885 until September 1968, and from October 1968 to November 1970 he was Commanding Officer of the Naval Reserve Center, Binghamton, New York. His next duty was as Executive Officer of USS WACCAIVIAW CAO 1093 from Januarcy 1971 to A ril 1972. He served in the Bureau of Naval Personnel from June 1 72 to July 1974 and in the Office of the Chief of Naval Otperations from August 1974 to November 1975. From January 1976 until Airil 1 76, Commander Doolittle served as Commanding Officer, USS DENEBOL CAF 563, before her decommis- sioning. He reported aboard USS NITRO in July 1976 to relieve Commander Jen- kins as Commanding Officer. 7

my l , COMMANDER GEORGE J. JENKINS, Jr. Commander George J. Jenkins, Jr., was born July 30, 1935 in Charleston, South Carolina. ln June 1954 he entered the United States Navy Academy and received his commission four years later. He began his career on USS MURRAY CDDE- 5761, serving in the billets of First Lieutenant, ASW Officer, and finality Gunnery Officer. ln June 1961 he was assigned as aide and Flag Lieutenant to OMCRU- DESFLOT FOUR. Following this tour, he attended U. S. Naval Postgraduate School where he received a master's degree in Physics. ln July 1965 he reported to USS BARNEY CDDG-65 as Operations Officer. Commander Jenkins was assigned as an instructor of physics at the United States Naval Academy in 1967. After a two ear tour, he was assigned to the U. S. Naval War College where he attended the Command and Staff Course. He was subsequently assigned as Executive Officer of USS CONE 'CDD-8663, filling the billet from August 197O to December 1971. He was assigned as Physicist, Lethality Division, of the Headquarters Defense Nu- clear Agency in Washington, D. C., from January 1972 until September 1974, when he reported aboard NITRO as Commanding Officer. N' I , gr Lf HN: 4 c J ,gm +4-M-A me E X E C U T l V E I LIEUTENANT COMMANDER DON K. SKlLLlVlAN Lieutenant Commander Don K. Skillman was born 27 April 1942 in Urbana, Ohio. He was commissioned Ensign, U. S. Naval Reserve through OCS after receiving his B.S. degree from Ohio State University. He served aboard USS UNION CLKA-1063 as Assistant First Lieutenant from February 1965 to December 1966. LCDR Skillman's next tour of duty was from Januargf 1967 to January 1968 as First Lieutenant on board USS PALIVI BEACH CA ER-35, after which he was released to inactive duty. Upon his return to active duty in September 1971, he was assigned to USS HALEAKALA CAE-25D, NlTRO's sister ship, as Operations Officer!Navi- gator until August 1973. ln September 1973 he reported to COIVIELEVEN Staff, serving as Surface Program Officer until December 1974. LCDR Skillman then served as Reserve Training Officer on COIVINAVSURFPAC Staff from December 1974 until February 1976.
