Mr. Robert Redig Mrs. Yvonne Young Mr. Leo Hoosline The Guidance Department, in an effort to aid students in choosing a college, installed a new computer-run college selector this year. West was the only Niles school to operate the expen¬ sive machine, and although still in an experi¬ mental stage, the department hoped that soon it would be available to all students. Seminars were again held to give students a chance to talk to various college representatives. 24 A counselor has the wonders of the universe at his fingertips. The waiting room ' is a good place for isolation and reflection.

Creativity Emphasized in Art Students Creativity was encouraged as art students had their work displayed almost continuously in West s faculty lounge and student cafeteria. Various media of art were experimented with as exhibits were also set up for Open House and PTA meetings. Some students had their work in the field of art culminate in participation at the Scholastic Art Awards contest sponsored by Wieboldt ' s in Evanston. Media areas includ¬ ed in the contest were pencil, pen and ink, and ceramics. A complete student exhibit was set up in the spring. Putting the finishing touches on a masterpiece is hard work.
