New Programs Present Challenge INDUSTRIAL ARTS Drawing boards, pistons, electronics, wood working, or any other major aspect of industrial arts education provides a vast array of challenging courses lor the student of Niles West. A new course in combined general science and industrial arts was begun this year. Studies included construction and research in short wave radio sets, Minovac computers, and other apparatus. FINE ARTS The Fine Arts program at Niles West does not create just artists and technicians. The product is not as important as the preparation. Instead, it fosters creativity, sensitivity, and greater aware- ness. This year, due to new equipment, art students were able to create larger and sturdier works in welded steel. The music department enriched the lives of the entire school communitv with magnificent concerts and participation in school activities. Stage band, along withfeiTiale vocalists, worked on new and en- tertaining arrangements. A constant effort was put forth to bring about talented expression of all stu- dents involved in musical pursuits. Tlie band reiiearses tlie overture for the talent show. M.
