" one bright spot on the team was one of the best guards in the suburban area, louis angelopoulos. he was a tre- mendous playmaker and shooter and he held the spot of the team ' s leading scorer, another hot shooter was senior ben matsumoto who has been on the team for four years, the big man at center for the trojans was another senior, jeff netznik. the fourth senior on the team was tim mccor- mick. he was a good sixth man who really sparked the team. the cast of juniors supporting these four were steve glink, mike lindahl, jeff Johnson, glenn anderson, and cecil har- rold. along with these boys sophomore don diamond contributed greatly to the varsity team of 1971-72. 96 basketball (he sophomore basketball players are: back row: coach Oswald, j. cohn, k. kei- sel, c. levins, p. mandel, g. fydrych, r. pollack, 1. weinstein, t. pausteck, s. gold, m. zinman, r. kleinschmidt, b. lerman, j. cascino, coach capitani, manager, r. chalkln. front row: manager, n. motin, h. weiss, r. sklamberg, I. kelly, d. garlick, h. stekloff, j. kray, r. rubin, manager, b. wood. this year ' s freshman team includes: back row: coach greene, g. kabot, j. kleifield, m. klancic, j. gra- bow, j. harles, b. kravitz, k. michals, b. warsaski, m. lis, a. samelson, coach dvorak. middle row: manager, s. rudy, manager t. seals, j. simms, j. hanson, k. sher, h. balikov, a. freedman, s. slutsky, m. valenti, m. hansen, manager, r. weiss. front row: m. shamberg, h. mussbaum, p. spivack, c. bux- baum, m. scherfling, g. angelopoulos, s. korey. not pictured, c. carlson. John, the top man on each level for four years, holds the varsity and sophomore school records in the 200 and 400 yard free-style events, this year he was fifth in the dis- trict in the 400 and fourth in the 200 yard events, another senior, shelly greenberg, did well as a diver. the coach looks forward to next year with the re- turn of such promising juniors as neal gold swim- ming breast stroke, terry katz in free-style, and carl schuett in backstroke, some returning stars of the sophomore team are andy ruttenberg and diver jeff milstein. among the promising freshmen are danny baigelman, rich berkowitz, and ed naumes. swimmers set the mark 53 9;pollack i i |pEt£RSOH C60 H ' M T I 07 SHAWKiHS S5 t POLLACK P ETERSOI the freshman swim team includes: (bacl row): s. patner, m. schechtman, r. berkowitz, s. pilchen, s. hirsch, coach ernst.
