MARY IOSEPH IKE a cluster of bright spring flowers growing along the highway, she provides a spot of cheerfulness in our journey through high school. Like the signposts along the way, she guides us on toward our destination. Like the friendly policeman who reprirnands careless drivers, she gives us friendly warning when we forget ourselves and lapse into unwise driving. Because of her friendliness, her helpfulness, and her interest in our wel- fare, we, the Senior Class of l937, dedicate this issue of "The Tattler" to Mrs. Mary Ioseph, head of the commer- cial departrnent, a graduate of St. Iohns High School, St. Iohns, Michigan, and the Gregg College, Chicago. Mrs. Ioseph came to Niles in 1926, and ever since has been to the students a sincere and cheerful friend. 6 A TATTLER STAFF DOROTHY HOYT RORERT WHITE ALICE PARKER SHIR'-EY HERRICK Literary Adviser Editor-in-Chief Associate Editor Features IULIA MINOR LELAND S. The affirmative team fBrodie, Henderson, and Adlerl de bated Cassopolis here in a non-decision contest. The negative team fPugh Leonard, and Sorensonl defeated Buchanan there, and then lost to Comstock there. ln its first year of interscholastic competition the club Won three out of four preliminary contests, thus getting into the elimination debates. For this the club Won a Wall plaque trophy The Iunior High section was chiefly concerned with learning the funda- rnentals of public speaking, besides holding several practice debates. The club's prospects for next year are good, since only two members were lost through graduation. E.
