4.96125 It came to pass in the fullness of time that the Class of 1954 did upon September 7, 1950, with a crew of '74, embark for a trip through the Nicholas County High School. We had collected a great amount of baggage such as bits of geography, sections of arithmetic and history, packages of civics, and a supply of grammar. Each, however, had the required ticket, a certificate of promotion from the last station, the eighth grade. lt came to pass that promptly at nine we did answer the call of all aboard and started on the up- grade in the train of knowledge with Mr. Henry Hale as principal and sponsor. We were given places in the Freshman section and chose as president of our group Drusie Hudnall. At the end of the year, having successfully met the requirements of Freshmen passengers, we were transferred to the Sophomore car with a crew of 41 members. On this trip Shirley Jennings was chosen president and we had as our sponsors Miss Jewell Ellis and Mr. Henry Hale. With the passing of time, we were again shifted, being placed in the Junior coach, with 34 jolly mem- bers of whom passenger LaVonne Taylor was elected president. We had an enjoyable stop at Renfro Valley for our jtuiior trip and another hi-light was our junior play, Meet My Wives . This year we had a new principal, Mr. Howard Moore and had as sponsor Miss Ethel Botts. Then came the happy day when we were transferred to the Senior coach with increased privileges and responsibilities. Cliff Vice, a new member of our group, was elected president and we had as our sponsors Miss Robbie Harney and Mr. Charles Finnell. We added another new member to our crew who was Joan lnsko from Cynthiana. The journey became steeper and rougher, but finally we looked out on Commencement Station looming in the distance. We successfully passed the close inspection of,the examiners who checked up on our baggage of knowledge, and now we stand ready for a final transfer. At Commencement Station, we leave the senior coach to become passengers on various roads leading through the valley of opportunity.
