CAM cfs-Aaforg Th1S h1story of our class may seem qulte dull to most people but to us It 1S a re m1nder of some of the happ1est days of our l1fe Throughout these four years of hlgh school we have had many problems and l1fe seemed very worthless at tlmes but w1th the help and understand1ng of our fr1ends and teachers we have managed to reach our goal In the autumn of 1945 we came to Headquarters H1gh School a happy and thr1lled l1ttle group of Freshmen DoloresConrad Frank Guthr1e and George Vaughn who had come through e1ght years of school together Jolned us from Ell1sc1lle along w1th Eva Howard Anna Lee Gates Dorothy Leet and Wanda Purcell who had jo1ned these three dur1ng the1r e1ght years Calv1n W1lls Jo1ned us from Center I-l1ll Under the leadershxp of M1ss Alpha Br1erly we managed to tra1l through the year Although our class was very large at the beg1nn1ng of school many dropped out dur1ng the year The followxng autumn found us once aga1n at Headquarters H1gh Happy to see our classmates once more As Sophomores we cons1dered ourselves very grown up and exper1enced but found ourselves turn1ng from t1me to t1me to our home room teacher M1ss EthelBotts for a1d Wlth our sophomore year camea great decrease 1n our class Eva Varner Nelma Dotson Eva Howard Wanda Purcell Joan Maf fett and Oral Hollar left the class Our Junlor Year found us under Mrs Gladys Kenney s gu1de and very exc1ted over the new name of our school Instead of Headquarters H1gh It was known as N1Ch01aS County H1gh Four new members jo1ned our class fromCarl1sle H1gh School They were Jean Booth Waun1ta Bradley Jane Alexander and Wxlma Jean Roe The h1gh l1ghts of the year were the Junlor Semor Banquet and the Junlor tr1p to I..ou1s v1lle Kentucky We entered school 1n the fall of 48 w1th great plans for our last year at N1cholas County H1gh Coach Wall our homeroom teacher was a great help to us durlng the year We lost one member of our class Shelly Gaunce who w1thdrew dur1ng the f1rst semester and welcomed one new member B1lly Rose who came from Carhsle H1gh In our class of e1ghteen members only f1ve or1g1na1 members are left B1lly H1llock and Wllma C0ll1DS who started together 1n the f1rst grade at Headquarters H1gh and Dolores Conrad Frank Guthr1e and George Vaughn who started together at El11sv1l1e We elected George Vaughn Pres1dent B1llyH1ll0ck V1ce Pres1dnet Reba M11ler Secretary and Anna Lee Gates Treasurer Dolores Conrad Reporter and Calv1n w1llS Sargeant at arms Now as we leave N1cholas County H1gh and our beloved teachers and classmates we w1sh to express our smcerest grat1tude to them for the1r pat1ent understand1ng throughout the years 9 I 1 I 1 .
