, BACON HOUSE s ,s o' ' ' . . . . , o .- --- ' 0 . 1---Q Housemaster Swan Bacon House once again proved itself to be the best all-around house this year. The house must be praised for offering the use of its outstanding facilities to the rest of the school. Although there was a charge for admission to the auditorium at times, there was no minimum in the cafeteria, and all health programs in the gyms were given free of charge. A peaceful relationship was maintained with the Main Office. the Principal's Office, the Vice Principals Office, and the College Records Office, all of which are allowed to stay only if they are good. Besides helping the school, Bacon took part in many other worthwhile activities. Among these were the Holiday Party, at which Bacon students met Housemaster Swan, Mr. Mechem, and Mr. Gradoneg a performance by the fabulous Navy Band: and a decision rendered by the renowned NPITSP Committee. This group, try as it did to find traffic problems similar to those enjoyed by other houses, strongly supported Non- Participation In Traffic Squad Programs. X Housemaster Foster HOUSE COUNCIL Andy Hyde, Kenny Smith Steve Roser Ann Pinciss Suzanne Healy, Carrie Hills, Carolyn Sylvester Sue Ferguson Betsy Daniels l CIVICS COMMITTEE Neil Grossman, Karen Manners, Scott Silliman, Daniel Kent. A spirited and friendly atmosphere existed in Adams House this year, and the students soon adapted themselves to the situation. The first major event of the year was a house assembly. Everyone screamed and clapped along with some music played by talented students and was amused by a skit presented by the faculty. All quietly agreed that none of the teachers would ever have to worry about careers in show business. Next on the agenda was a Holiday Party, which was a big success, even though it was planned entirely by students. The high note of the party was a ballroom dancing exhibition by the old smoothies, Housemaster Foster and Mrs. Chartier. In january Adams House was entertained with Bacon by the always popular Navy Band. The cats were wild over the cool hot jazz, but some complained of the lack of cute sailors. Adams stands at the head of the list of house, not only because it is the only house whose name begins with an A, but also because of the sincerity of those who lead ir: the unbeatable combination of Foster, Chartier, and Russo, Inc. - X ADAMS HOUSE

The house spirit and morale was centered around the Barry key to success, replicas of which were available to students. The first activity of the year was an X-block musical review, C.'d by Housemaster Batchel- der. During the review, which was a smashing success, students were urged to buy keys. Barry House awarded an honor banner to the homeroom with the greatest percentage of students on the honor roll, thus encouraging good scholar- ship. Barry's social activities this year were centered around small group coke socials. At these parties, which were directed by Mr. Batchelder and the schools most active house council, Barry students had the opportunity to get to know each other well. The enthusiasm, comradeship, excitement, and spirit of cooperation that exemplify this house have led the whole school to realize that Barry is the best house in Newton High School.
