FUTURE TEACHERS OF AMERICA Newton High School's bid to help relieve the teacher shortage is the Future Teachers of America Club. Its members, who plan to make teaching a career, visit elementary schools as well as teachers' colleges to study methods of education. Their programs include lectures by educational leaders, and moving pictures concerning various phases of the teaching profession. President ......... The group enioyed many Marsh, Davidson, Sade, Sherman, Zottu, Silverman, Cohen. interesting activities, including its annual Theatre Party. Responsible for the staging, directing, and costuming of Amahl and the Night Visitors, the Drama Club helped bring to Newtonians the true and beautiful spirit of Christmas. HUNTING AND FISHING CLUB Even though the Hunting and Fishing Club didn't go on regular outdoor expeditions, they did learn about safe hunting, fire fighting, stream control, and wildlife conservation. Some of the club's activities this year included a movie on conservation, a talk on deer hunting, and a fly tying and casting demonstration. As a climax, these enthusiastic outdoorsmen went on a fishing trip, where they applied their newly-gained knowledge.
