the inevitable late-comers. . . . while this part of the group practised their You-all's at Manatee County High School in Bradenton, Florida. Meet- ing and trying to understand people from different sections of our country better was a true experience in democracy for these Newton High Schoolers. Intensive study of the participating communities, individual reports, radio broad- casts, and letter writing called for much student activity be- tween trips. Even though idaho and Florida are a great distance from us in mileage, they will always remain close in the minds of the Exchange students. In the corridor . .. The 1952-53 School and School Exchange had a busy but rewarding program. The members, who were selected from the junior and senior classes, raised money by projects such as paper drives, an auction, and a rummage sale. This year the group of sixty split into two sections. Those pictured here went to idaho Falls, idaho, by way of Chicago and Yellowstone National Park, and returned via Salt Lalce City, Utah .... WESTERN EXCHANGE JP' pqqnulnll' ! ,.!:

NATIONAL There were many proud smiles ex- hibited this April when the new members elected to the National Honor Society were announced. The name of the society is self- explanatory. Its reputation extends from coast to coast, and its mem- bers are highly respected through- out the country. A student had to be in the upper 25 j of his class and outstanding in leadership, character, and service to be con- sidered for election. All qualifying were then voted on by the faculty.
