Mr. Malcolm Gallagher Ulfloquence is logic on Firen aptly describes the spirit of this clubis lively, informal debates. Though facts for the Hlogicn of the argument vvere not always so carefully culled, there certainly was tire when four debaters tool4 sides on a subject. Fol- lowing the debate other club members had an op- portunity to asl4 questions and air their opinions. Alter good debates the enthusiasm was really catch- ing, and the moderator had hard times keeping the discussion under control. Since debates were usually on current issues, members were provided with a Fine vvay to lceep posted as vvell as to im- prove their public spealdng.

C. l-lall lts members admitted only by competitive examina- tion, the Chemistry Club consists oi a hand-picked group of students who are interested in chemistry. Again this year the members enjoyed the usual series oi informative lectures and interesting experi- ments. The meetings were conducted by the mem- bers themselves, in groups of Five, each ol which had charge oi a program and demonstration. A number of interesting Field trips provided the high- lights of the seasons events. Climaxing an eventful season vvas the annual Science Fair to which the Chemistry Club contributed an interesting and well- received exhibit. These boys and girls are the chemists oi tomorrovv, who someday may be de- veloping products and methods for better living.

Miss lrene Haworth The English Club, the oldest and one oi the larg- est clubs in Newton I-ligh, sought to reflect the pleasure which can be obtained from English by junior and senior members. Readings, movies, well- known spealcers, and symposiums on Writing were among the activities oi the year. A winter excur- sion to see a popular modern play proved a mem- orable event, vvhile the most outstanding feature vvas the club's spring pilgrimage to Concord, Massachu- setts. Varied programs such as these exhibited the educational and enjoyable activities oi the English Club.
