Peltier Qs ?7 The Anti-Smoking Committee this year had one of the largest groups oi applicants in its short his- tory. Forty-eight members were chosen out of the two hundred seventy-Five who applied. It vvas the job of these Forty-eight to cope with one cause of school Fires - students' smoking in the school build- ings. The members were given special cards ena- bling them to leave any class in order to go to places in the school Where there was the possi- bility ol smolcing occurring and have done much toward maintaining a safe school For the pupils and teachers.

Mr. Russell Fitz - x C10 The impressive buzzing ancl zooming noises vvhich were sometimes heard on the athletic Field vvere actually just what they sounded like-miniature jet and gas-propelled aircraft being displayed by their ovvners, members ol Newton l-ligh Schools Avia- tion Club. These model-meets gave luture aero- nautical experts a chance to exhibit their handi- vvorlc, and were the results oi many hours of careful planning and construction. The club planned trips to Bedford Airport during the spring and iall and Filled winter meetings with lectures, instruction, and movies on such subjects as aerodynamics and aero- nautics. Throughout the year, hovvever, members Worlted with one goal in mind-the opportunity to talce actual Flying lessons, a Fitting climax to an interesting and proiitable year. '19
