Villefranche was a word that broughf thoughts of pleasant excitement tg the hearts of all of us. It had been the topic of conversation during the entire year and the present visit would provide the food for dreams and talk during the day until our return. Here was our second home, truly the inspira- tion for coming to Europe. Here we had many old friendship-s and many of our staff personnel had their families. The harbor of Villa itself seemed to stretch its arms about the NEWPORT NEWS as she lay resting in the cool blue waters. France was all that every travel ad ever claimed, and we took to the Cote D'Azur as if we were native born to its spirit. The French people have our kind of beauty, humor and emotions and being among them we enjoyed the granduer of Monte Carlo, Nice, and Cannes, the quaintness of Antibes, Villefranche and La Turbiep and the flavour of Edenroc, the Hotel Negresco and night life on the Riviera. Many of us took the opportunity to play softball on the 06 level, Golf 3000 ft. above sea level at Mont Agel, or lazily sip champagne in the sun at a sidewalk cafe. Even the luxury of a. big glass of cold milk was available here in our paradise.annually revisited. fleet landing'
