Commanding f ficev' Commander Delpercio received his commission in May 1959 upon completion of Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island. A native of Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey, he graduated from Wagner College on Staten Island in New York prior to entering the Navy. His first tour of duty was on board USS NESPELEN CAOG-551 as First Lieutenant and Gunnery Officer. He subsequently became Executive Officer of that unit before his detachment in March 1962. Upon graduation from U. S. Naval Destroyer School, Newport, Rhode Island, he was ordered to duty as Opera- tions Officer aboard USS WILLIAM C. LAWE CDD-763D. His first shore duty began in 1964 when he attended Defense Intelligence School, Washington, D. C., followed by a tour as an analyst at U. S. Naval Scientific and Technical Intelligence Center in Washington, D. C. From there, he joined the U. S. Military Assistance Command, Vietnam as Current Intelligence Analyst for the IV Corps Area. Returning to sea duty in June 1968, he served as Executive Officer on board USS NEW CDD-8185. Upon detach- ment from USS NEW, Commander Delpercio assumed command of USS TOM GREEN COUNTY CLst-ll59l in July 1970. . In February 1972, Commander Delpercio was assigned to the staff of Commander in Chief, U. S. Atlantic Fleet HS Amphibious, Service Force and Mine Force Operations and Scheduling Officer. He returned to sea duty in june, 1975, -taking command of USS NEWPORT CLST-11795. He is married to the former Miss Barbara Littlejohn of Plainfield, New jersey. They have three children.

Executive f ficer Lieutenant Commander Byers graduated from Penn State University in 1967 and received his commission through the NROTC program. He attended a six month CICXASAC School before reporting to the USS INGRAHAM CDD-6945, where he served as CIC Officer until August of 1964. LCDR Byers then attended Destroyer School in Newport, Rhode Island, and upon graduation in February of 1965, served as Operations Officer on the USS K. D. BAILEY CDDR-7135. After a course of instruction at Computer Programming School in Washington, D. C., LCDR Byers served as ADP Plans Officer for CINCPAC in Hawaii for three years. In July, 1970, he moved back to the East Coast to serve as the first Communications Officer on the USS MT WHITNEY CLCC-205. LCDR Byers moved back to Washington in November, 1972 and served as ADP Plans Officer for the Defense Communications Agency intil reporting to NEWPORT as Executive Officer in January, 1976. LCDR Byers holds a Master's Degree in Public Administration from George Washington University, and has been selected for Commander.
