Guard End Quarterback Halfbadi Un a warm fall Saturday the rather green and inevpw-rienced liuffaloes took lu the fit-ld at llallastown. It was a rather exciting game tht- whole way with the liuffs not scoring till the third period. Then Jerry Rothen- berger took the ball across for our only 'li-ll. Next the Buffs encountered the big and tough Seals from Selings- grow. Proving lo be too much for the team. tht- Seals practically ruined us. The only high point of the game came when Corbett Strawser plunged over for our only T-IJ. lle also scored our point after touchdown. lfor the first time tlns year the Buffs took to their own, rather muddy and sloppy field. to tangle with the boys from WX-st York. Somehow' or another we once again came out on the short end of the score. Lew Crt-ssler played a fine defensive game. Next our Buffs traveled down river to meet the Highspire Tigers. a highly rated team. Although the score looks like we were skunked. we actually played, one of our finest games of the year. Bad breaks such as penalties and pass interceptions gave the game to the Tigers. Cressler. Kahler. lfetrick. and Hockey played a fine ball game. The next game was said to be a toss-up by the oddsmakers. and they were almost right. The game was nothing to nothing. and would probably have ended that way if a Carson Long player would not have landed on a blocked punt in the end zone. ln this game Bill Kahler did some fine punting. On a cold Friday night the Buffs met Mickey' Pannebaker and Co. from ,luniata joint. The game can be summed up in a few words. Statistics prove that we outplayed them. but the breaks being on their side plus the fine running of Pannebaker were too much for the Buffs. Special mention must go to Gil Clouser for his fine running. On one of the rainiest and muddiest days of the year the Buffs met a powerhouse from Enola. It didn't take them long to start rolling. and when the final whistle blew. they had swamped us by a terrific score. This was definitely not one of the Buffs, days. On a beautiful sunny day' the Buffs went to Bloomfield to take on the Perry Joint Bobcats. For some reason the Buffs just couldn't seem to get going in the first half. But they came back on the field in the second half with lots of pep and in no time got our two touchdowns. Again the Buffs played on a wet field. The Buffs met the Hams head on and judging by the results of the game. they did not fare so well. Clouser and Kahler showed promise in the backfield. and Lew' Cressler played defensively very well. The team ended the season with a defeat to Susquenita. Although the team didnit have a successful season by the books, there are other ways in which you can be successful. and litll sure the boys got a feeling of success out of this year.
