Whether the script declares that someone is going to sing dreamy Christmas carols, play an instrument in beautiful arrangement with the band or orchestra, or ily to Neverland with Peter Pan, that wishful phrase makes something extra special happen. Maybe the burst of confidence is caused by the spotlight or the countless pairs of eyes focused on the stage. But it is much more likely that the magic comes from within where a passion lies to hit that high notejust right or time the punch line perfectly. Luck may have played a role when an actor's hair looked great for an audition, ora musician's instrument tuned up quickly, but a strong performance requires much more than simple luck as proven at Smith this year.
