Two Muck The dynamite duo of Homecoming and Beat Turner Weeks' big victories delight everyone When a Varsity football team wins the Homecoming game and the district rival game, the team's entire season is classified as complete. Winning the two most important games of the season, the Varsity football team re- sponded appropriately to the school spirit of Homecoming Week and Beat Tumer Week. Mums covered with various bows, ribbons, feathers, whistles, and bells provided a colorful touch and a cheerful jingle to the decorated halls of Homecoming Week. Fritiagfs pep rally hon- ored past grader: -es who stood on the downstairs balcony and aroused enormous support for the football team. The Varsity play- ers left the'rally fired up for the evening's confrontation with the J. J. Pearce Mustangs. At the conclusion of the game that night, the fans, excited over the 16-3 Smith victory, poured from the stands onto Standridge's track in the last minutes of the game, but policemen held them back until the final buzzer sounded. The students ran to join their victorious team in the center of the field lor the playing of the Alma Mater. Saturday night brought the Homecoming Dance for current students and graduates. Bal- loons, streamers, and confetti portrayed the Cruisin' Into '88 IS HOMECOMING theme. The senior executive committee organized the dance, complete with a professional disk jockey and photographer. lt was truly a weekend to remember. The Trojans tasted of another sweet victory at the closing of Beat Turner Week. Following four crazy days of wearing paja- mas, nerd attire, college sweat- shirts, backwards clothes, the students wore spirited green and gold to encourage the football team for the rival match-up. The pep rally and Key Club's Car Smash ended the school day with a bang. Standridge stadium hosted the district battle. In the end, the Trojans came out on top with a dazzling Lion defeat of 23-3. Again the team was surrounded by proud fans on the field as their season was brought to an end with a satisfying victory. Luck often plays an important role in the difference between victory and defeat. Throughout Homecoming and Beat Turner Weeks, the luck, which re- sulted in outstanding wins, was wished to athletes by the entire student body as everyone dedi- cated an entire week to the occa- sion. Clothes, bows, yells, and bells sounded out great student support and spirit as well as the best wishes of luck. The Sophomore Princess candidates and their escorts line up to hear their class' feetlbaclr. Cindy Bailey and Amy Griuafli sport a colorful array of Homecoming mums. The lfomecoming Dance provides the perfect dance atmosphere for Carla Landers and Todd Frank. fp S. it 44- -,X p ,pijg .,e'r Q
