Theme When we think of the tremendous plant of knowledge we have in Newfane, we do not consider it an assembly line arrangement where each pupil must conform to a pattern. However, if we think of our school in terms of a large, progressive plant such as that which might be found in the automotive industry, with each depart- ment's taking on its proper function, the possibilities for development and expansion are endless. For example, the members of the Community might be considered stock holders, the Board of Education, brokers, and the Administrators, plant superintendents. Overseeing the activities are the Faculty Members, or Sales Managers. Let us look in on the functions of the various departments. The Elementary Grades are the personnel of the department which handles raw materials, while the Juniors High resembles the section which constructs the frame and chassis. The Sophomores, in their pre-carrier year, are responsible for the varied paint jobs on the automobile. The Juniors, as shipping room clerks, prepare the vehicles for shipment to the display room. In the school, as in the factory, the Custodians, as mechanics, keep the building in good working order, the Cafeteria staff provides food for all per- sonnel, as does the gas attendent supply to industry. The Office Staff handles the clerical work. The Bus Drivers transport the students to the school in much the same manner as some transport drivers deliver the carsto various sale rooms. Sports supply variety and competition for the students, as the makers of foreign cars supply variety and competition in the automobile industry. Activities also add to high school life, as accessories add the extra touch to the automobile. Upon completion of the product, it is sent to the display room personnel, which corresponds to the Senior Class. However, neither the Senior, upon graduation from the school, nor the Auto- mobile, upon leaving the factory, is really finished. As the auto is added to by its owners, the student adds to his experience as he gains in knowledge to go onward and upward. 5
