COL with Zanesville and Marietta. The 'Cats wins
were over Columbus West, Canton Lehman, Lan-
caster, Mt. Vernon, Chillicothe, Dayton Fairmont, Co-
lumbus South, Zanesville Ctwicei, Coshocton Ctwicej,
Washington Court House, and New Philadelphia.
Defeats were at the hands of Lancaster, Chillicothe,
Marietta Ctwicej, and Marion.
Newark lost six valued players to the inevitable
graduation exercises. They were Larry Urban,
Gary Bolen, Tom Wortman, Scott Marzano, Dave
Wright, and Dick Woolard.
Newark held its own in the state tournament,
taking two wins before being knocked out in the
quarterfinals of the District at the Fairgrounds
Coliseum in Columbus by Columbus Central 64 to
58. The 'Cats victories were over Delaware Willis
C76 to 571 and Washington Court House C74 to 565
whom Newark had met earlier during the regular
season.
Post-season honors were recorded as follows:
Larry Urban and Gary Bolen made the first All-Op-
ponent COL team, players being chosen by COL op-
posing teams, while Tom Wortman and Dave Mar-
zano made the second team. Urban landed a spot
on the second, official All-COL aggregation, who
are selected by scribes. And Urban and Wortman
received honorable mention in the All-Ohio selec-
tions, also chosen by newspapermen.
