WWW wif' NA. Every great university sees faculty come and go. Universities in New York are particu- larly vulnerable as other institutions in more pastoral lor at least, more liveable urbani set- tings use the lure of the good life to win away star teachers. The departure of faculty, even at the rate we have seen here, is not a sign of a school in decline. What many peo- ple fail to realize is that those losses are often a reflection of how good N.Y.U.'s fac- ulty is dndlcontinues to be. Indeed, it is a compliment when other institutions seek out our staff. Still, it is unsettling when so many departments must rebuild at once. N.Y.U. will survive, its students will learn. But it seems strange that others no longer share the experiences of a Chandler Stetson promise, a Harvey Levy heart lecture, the Kloot and the mini-Kloot, Lightning Fred Miller, Marvin Kuschner's unique views of COPD . . . l l 1 W l 1 1 V 1 1 1, glfifl , I -a sm s llllll ,Q gn ' . - .i EX -r , : Ss'-lg' ali-lE':3, um-S55 Malin: 'll S 'JZ ..1- .1 T - will -2: . 1 . .lift l l A M. . .
