Aiding the entire stu- dent body by such activities as running food and d1'ink concessions at home football games, Girls' Club was able to achieve its goal-to make the female population of New Trier a happier, more closely knit, and more charitable group. The club's most unique effort was the establishment of a student-run paperback 28 book store, located outside the dining hall and open during all lunch periods. VVith the money raised from the bookstore, C0111- bined with that from the food concessions and the annual magazine drive ffrom which over 540,000 was collectedl, Girls' Club was able to grant college scholarships to needy senior girls. ln the late fall, Girls' Club combined forces with Tri-Ship to conduct the biennial canned foods drive. The student body, in a surge of last minute enthusiasm, reached and topped its goal. Later in the school year these two major clubs again worked together, this time raising more than their goal of S3700 for the United Fund drive. Girls, Club also sponsored Christmas and Spring adviser room projects. VVorking towards promoting a spirit of amity among all New Trier girls regardless of class, Girls' Club sponsored a freshman- senior party, a friendly week culminating in a friendly banquet, a banquet for new girls, a father-daughter dinner dance, a fashion show, and a hag party for each class.
