AUVISER Cl-IAIRMEN One of the distinctive fedtures of New Trier is the advisor system, in- stituted here by Mr. Clerk. p The system provides for the wel- fare of the student in the best possible way. The student has close Contact with a faculty member who is5 familiar with all the factors of the student's life. This advisor is a port mia storm. The group assigned to each aflvisor is small enough so that the advisor may know thoroughly his charges. The majority of students at New Trier have come to look upon hi. or her advisor as a real friend. X The advisor room providesa unit of the student body which is small enough for eflicient handling yet large enough to reflect the spiriti of the school. The importance ofithe ad- visor room has been enhanced by the l i l l line intramural athletics program now enforced through competition between the rooms. The personnel of the advisor group is composed first of the advisors and then of the chairmen. A man and a woman aregiven charge of the ad- visor rooms of each class. hir. Her- ron and Miss Shaw have provided an excellent program in the freshmen rooms to acquaint the students enter- ing New Trier with the life here. hir. Grinnell and Niiss Hurst have charge of the Sophomore rooms. hir. Vernon and Miss Flentye act for the junior groups. The most important posts of Senior Advisor Chairmen are filled by lVIr. VVindoes and bliss hia- loney. The program of the Senior year is one designed to prepare the student for entrance to college. Thirteen,

While this book is intended pri- marily as a record of the extra cur- ricular activities of the school, it is a foregone conclusion that unless the scholastic standard of the school is maintained, all else must go. The staff has 90 members all of which have proven themselves excep- tionally well fitted for the respective tasks. The faculty of the school is divided into thirteen departments: Administrative, English, Nlathemat- ics, Social Science, Science, Language, Commerce, Home Economics, Man- ual Arts, Art, lliusic, and Boys' and Girl's Physical Education. At the head of each of these departments is a teacher who has charge of all work done in his or her department. Nlr.
