The Class of 1959 wishes to express its gratitude to the public-minded citizens who comprise the New Kensington Board of Education. Through their planning for educational, financial, and social functions, they have made our Alma Mater one of which we can be very proud. The members of the board include Mr. Ralph Little, president, Dr. C. G. Vonderheid, vice-president, Mr. James Patterson, treasurer, Mr. Charles Keller, Mr. Garfield Jones, Mr. Blair Gensamer, and Mr. Anthony Giordano. The Board of Education were guests of the Student Council at the annual banquet. I I I MR. OLIVER Mr. Oliver, our worthy principal, is responsible for making our school func- tion smoothly. We wish to express our sincere appreciation for the guidance, understanding, and help that he has given us. S.. .W MR. JEFFERSON Mr. JeFFerson, superintendent of schools of the New Kensington School District, works with the school directors to execute the educa- tional policies by which our schools function. He also exercises general supervision over curriculum and teaching. Our highest praise goes to his capable administration. DR. DANOVITZ Dr. Danovitz, the very capable voca- tional director and assistant principal of New Kensington High School, is the man to whom the vocational students look for help. The book provides invaluable information to all, but especially to sophomores, for it contains a list of the various clubs that can be joined, the rules and regulations to be followed, requirements for graduation and an English reading list. One of the highlights this year was a meeting at which our student teachers spoke. Miss Eiges and Mr. Keiser sponsor this group. The Future Business Leaders of America have visited various business colleges and have heard speakers from the business world. The advisers are Miss Casillo and Mrs. Delia. The Future Homemakers of America, directed by Mrs. Potter and Miss Glmer, sponsor a baby-sitting course and fashion show, participate in flower shows, and make table arrangements. The Band has performed at Kennywood, the Kiwanis Tri-State Band Festival, pep rallies, football games, and the spring Band Festival. Also directed by Mr. Stephens, the Dance Band has played for assemblies, pep rallies, and the talent show. The Maiorettes have always been an attraction at Ken Hi.
