Fleet Information Oenlef, 1940's if it l 1 l CAPT R. T. Myers COMCRUDESGRU ONE Cruiser-Destroyer Group One, commanded by RADM J. P. Reason, is the 4'Number One Cruiser-Destroyer Group in the Navy! The Group has two principal missions. While deployed, it functions as a battle group command responsible for the planning and execution , of battle group operations. As such, the group commander exercises operational and tactical command of air, surface and subsurface forces at sea, in a multi-threat environment, in the pursuit of national h objectives. While operating in the Eastern Pacific, the staff serves as the administrative and sometimes operational commander for a num- ber of cruisers and destroyers homeported in San Diego, Long Beach, and Alameda, Calif. as well as Bremerton, Washington. COMCRUDESGRU ONE formed Battle Group Romeo - COP' sisting of the battleship NEW JERSEY, the AEGIS-equipped Cfuls' N, the guided missile destroyer LYNDE er LAKE CHAMPLAIG MCCORMICK, and two fast frigates, STEIN and LOCKWOUD - a cohesive fighting force.
