CAPT Ronald D. Tucker Commanding Officer CAPT W. H. Smith Executive Officer CAPT Ronald D. Tucker is a native of Santa Monica, Calif. He received his commission as an Ensign in 1963 fol- lowing his graduation from California State College at Northridge. His first sea tour was on board USS PICTOR CAF 541. He subsequently served aboard USS CO- CHRANE CDDG 211 as First Lieutenant. He served as Op- erations Officer aboard USS LEONARD E. MASON CDD 8521 He returned to COCHRANE in 1973 as Executive Of- ficer, and again as Commanding Officer in October, 1979. CAPT Tucker's shore assignments include Field Com- mand, Defense Atomic Support Agency and Commander, Joint Task Force Eight, Officer Distribution Division of the Bureau of Naval Personnel, Surface Warfare Division of the Chief of Naval Operations, serving as a member of the CDDG 515 Study Group. CAPT Tucker also served as Special Assis- tant CSurface Warfarej to the Assistant Secretary of the Navy, Research, Engineering and Systems, and as the Spe- cial Assistant fSpecial Programsj to the Director, Navy Pro- gram Planning in OPNAV. Prior to reporting to NEW JER- SEY, he was Commanding Officer, Naval Station Pearl Harbor. CAPT Tucker's decorations include the Legion of Merit with gold star, Meritorious Service Medal with two gold stars, Navy Commendation Medal with Combat V , Com- bat Action Ribbon, and Humanitarian Service Medal. CAPT Tucker is married to the former Christy Crahan of Reseda, Calif. The Tuckers have two sons: Jason and Shaun.
