F O R E W O R D Weg the Annual Staff, sincerely hope that this book in years to come will fulfill the purpose for which it is print- - edg and you, in reading its pages, can relive the joyous and memorable school days atNewHome inthe year 1947- 1948. 1 W WW -J 67 5 M ills DEDICATION The New Home Senior Class would like to dedicate this annual to Mr. A. L. Pace, our superintendent. We want to thank him for his hard work in making this school a success. We alsowantto thank the faculty for their hard work toward making our school year suc- ANNUAL STAFF Editor in Chief ., . Assistant Editor . Sports Editor .... Assistant Sports Editor . PACE Life is a Cafeteria. There are no waiters to bring success to you. Help yourself. Great men have purposes: Others have wishes. Impatience has wings and passes the goal., Intention packs her trunk and misses the coach. Resolute starts on foot and wins. Men succeed in proportion to the fixity of their vision and the invicibility of their purpose. Concentration of purpose is absolutely necessary to success here or anywhere., The man who would be successful in the race of life must lay aside every energy of soul and body to the race on which he has entered. A poor little boy once read of the siege of Troy. He determined to find the ruins of that Ancient City. Through poverty and slanish toil he never forgot his vow. Scholars of all world are debtors to Dr. Schlieman. Singleness of purpose have to master the ebbing, and flowing tide of human life. The power to bring ones scattered forces into one final point make all the difference between success and failure. - Lincoln's purpose was to save the Union. We cannot all be Lincoln, but we can have the spirit and determination of a Lincoln, and consecreate ourselves for the doing of at least one great and helpful thing. Paul said, "This one thing I do." Paul made mistakes he saw Stephens die consenting to his death. He devastitated hundreds of homes and made a thousand hearts to ache. But he did not allow this dark record to overshadow his life. He left it all to the foot of the cross and pressed forward. v Ihave made many sad blunders in my life. Shall I give up the fight? No. But putting my feet on the mistakes, I will use them as stepping stones on which to mount to higher, purer life. The know- ledge of these mistakes I shall use as a club with which to overcome failures in future conflicts. Past achievements may get a man a place but it requires a great purpose to make him master of it. Surely this is the education that appeals to each of us. it iii' ttf iii' if administration QFQDM Mrs. A. L. Pace Grade School Principal A. L. Pace Superintendent and Coach i QF -Q . .V J'. N.
