Editorial Staff 1355 Student Council 145 Gene climaxed his twelve years at New Holland High School by very capably filling the office of school president. An avid sports enthusiast, Gene participated in soccer, bas- ketball, and tennis during his high school years. A care or a worry soon vanished when your path crossed this fellow with personality plus. Gene's future plans are indefinite, but he possesses qualities that should gain him success in any field he chooses. foan Gertrude Lowry June 5, 1937 Joanie Hockey 11,2,3,453 Student Council 13,45: Band 1l,2, 3,45g Patrol 11,2,3,45g Senior Play 1455 T.C.N. Business Staff 1l,2,3,45g Yearbook Business Staff 1455 Student Council Secretary 1353 Cheerleading 11,2,3,45g T.C.N. Advertising Manager 1353 T.C.N. Business Manager 145 Joan has served her Alma Mater well during her twelve years of attendance at New Holland High School. As goalie of the hockey team, Joanie's main objective was to prevent opponents from scoring. ' Portraying the part of Depression , the colored maid, in the senior play, Joanie had everyone splitting their sides with laughter. The business world has beckoned and this capable secre- tary will follow. Charles Roland Miller June 6, 1937 Chas Yearbook Business Stuff 1453 Yearbook Business Manager 145 I got my limit, or that one was so big I couldn't pull him out of the stream, can often be heard from Chas be- cause he is an ardent hunter and fisherman. Each Fall Chas goes hunting for small game and deer. Charles is a true friend to everyone and is glad to help whenever he is able. In the future Charles plans to be a game protecto1'. Robert Donald Kurtz October 8, 1936 Bob Salisbury: Band 11,2,31g Chorus 11,2,31g Play 1315 Yearbook Business Staff' 131 New Holland: Band 1415 Select Chorus 141 Although Bob is one of the more reserved members of our class, he has proved himself a congenial and pleasing friend to all. Bob was an immediate asset to the high school band when he came from Salisbury with his sax. Much of his spare time is spent playing with a local dance band. If Uncle Sam doesn't claim this fellow, he will probably work with his father as a plumber. Marie Ann Katz September 1, 1937 Marie Patrol 11,2,3,41g Chorus 11,215 Leoninus Editor 1415 Senior Play 1413 Class Treasurer 1413 School Treasurer 131 Marie is easily distinguished by her long, dark hair. She became a member of our class in the eighth grade and was immediately well-liked because of her pleasing manner. As editor of the Leoninus, she displayed her fine quali- ties of leadership and initiative. Marie's future definitely points in the direction of marriage, which will be the fulfillment of her dreams. Leon Hess Liclity November 13, 1937 Leon Senior Play 141 Yes, sir! These were the words frequently spoken by Leon in his senior play role of VVing , the Chinese valet, which he filled very well. Perhaps Leon was not actively associated with many school functions: nevertheless he was always willing to give his support. Leon is very interested in the field of mechanics: how- ever, he has not definitely decided what he will do after graduation.

Thomas Edward Miller November 23, 1937 Tom Salisbury: Basketball 135g Band 11,2,35g Chorus 1353 Senior Play 135, Baseball 11,255 County Chorus 135g Class Treasurer 12,35 Tall and silent, with an engaging smile, Tom adopted our school as the scene of his final year of high school. Although his favorite pastimes seem to be sleeping and driving, Tom works in a greenhouse when not attending school. Hillbilly music is also a source of enjoyment to him. Working will be Tom's occupation after graduation, but as to what and where, he is not positive. William Ralph Pennock, fr. December 29, 1937 Bill Salisbury: Band 11,2,35g Chorus 11,2,35g Patrol 1355 Play 1353 Yearbook Editorial Staff 135, District Chorus 1353 County Chorus 1355 Operetta 11,25 New Holland: Band 1455 Chorus 145g Senior Play 145 When Bill came to New Holland High School this year he brought with him his outstanding acting ability which he displayed in the Senior Play as Dr. Bunn. Bill is also an ardent reader of the latest books and periodicals. He spends many hours organizing and partici- pating in church activities. To be a minister is Bill's goal in life and he hopes to enter college after graduation. Dorothy Grace Plank January 1, 1938 Dot Basketball 1253 Hockey 12,3,45g Band 11,2,3,-153 Chorus 11,2,3,45g Patrol 125: Leoninus Editorial Staff 1453 Manager 1155 Cheerleading 145 Frank, but friendly, this jovial lass has been one of our number for twelve years. Always a busy girl, Dot can be seen supporting her school teams both as a cheerleader and a fullback on the hockey team. Dot's willingness to aid others has resulted in her choosing nursing as a career. She plans to enter the Har- risburg Hospital as a student nurse this fall. Page 'f e
