The mellow notes of Kearney's trumpet can be heard in our band. Sports are also of special interest to him and he was an able member of the Salisbury teams. Kearney's plans for the post-graduation period are still being formulated. james Newton Houck September 13, 1937 Jim Basketball 11,213 Chorus 1415 Senior Play 1413 T.C.N. Business Staff 1415 Soccer 11,2,3,41g Base- ball 121 Jim's good sense of humor has immeasurably lightened our day-to-day duties. A jovial personality has contributed much to his wide popularity among all his classmates. Most of his spare time is spent working on his car which he likes to keep in the best of condition. As Danny Silleto in the senior play, he displayed a considerable amount of dramatic talent. That of a barber and electrician are the two occupations Jim will fill after graduation. Robert Arthur facoby September 10, 1937 Bob Junior Play 1313 Leoninus Editorial Staff 1413 Manager 11,2,3,413 Film Staff 11,2,3,41 This lad is a native New Hollander, and can chalk up twelve years of attendance at the New Holland Schools. Bob can often be seen as a manager of all athletic teams for he has capably filled this position since seventh grade. When Bob's name was added to the Nav ' y Reserves, Uncle Sam discovered the potential worth in this New Hol- land High School graduate. Page Twen' rc T'

It didn't take him long, however, to gain the friendship of many of his classmates. During the year he was a mem- ber of both the soccer and basketball squads. John's love of fun and good humor has made him well- liked during his year with us. His future plans are indefinite. Business Staff 1433 Leoninus Editorial Staff 1433 Class Treasurer 1233 Cheerlead- ing 11,23g School Secretary 133 An ambition to become a stenographer seized this tall, dark-haired girl and led her through N. H. H. S. The tallest girl of the class, Ferne is always neat and becomingly dressed. Ferne is active, full of ideas and al- ways ready for fun. At dances she can be seen doing what comes naturally for Ferne-dancing. Ferne plans to establish herself in an oHice. Editorial Staff 1l,2, 3,433 'I'.C.N. Associate Editor 143 Plenty of determination and high ideal are character- istics of this young lady. She has proved her journalistic abilities as associate editor of the Town Clock News. Playing.: fullback on the hockey field, Shirley gave plenty of opposition to the other teams. Shirley's keen interest in consumer education should be an aid to her in her anticipated career as a housewife.

Robert Donald Kurtz October 8, 1936 Bob Salisbury: Band 11,2,31g Chorus 11,2,31g Play 1315 Yearbook Business Staff' 131 New Holland: Band 1415 Select Chorus 141 Although Bob is one of the more reserved members of our class, he has proved himself a congenial and pleasing friend to all. Bob was an immediate asset to the high school band when he came from Salisbury with his sax. Much of his spare time is spent playing with a local dance band. If Uncle Sam doesn't claim this fellow, he will probably work with his father as a plumber. Marie Ann Katz September 1, 1937 Marie Patrol 11,2,3,41g Chorus 11,215 Leoninus Editor 1415 Senior Play 1413 Class Treasurer 1413 School Treasurer 131 Marie is easily distinguished by her long, dark hair. She became a member of our class in the eighth grade and was immediately well-liked because of her pleasing manner. As editor of the Leoninus, she displayed her fine quali- ties of leadership and initiative. Marie's future definitely points in the direction of marriage, which will be the fulfillment of her dreams. Leon Hess Liclity November 13, 1937 Leon Senior Play 141 Yes, sir! These were the words frequently spoken by Leon in his senior play role of VVing , the Chinese valet, which he filled very well. Perhaps Leon was not actively associated with many school functions: nevertheless he was always willing to give his support. Leon is very interested in the field of mechanics: how- ever, he has not definitely decided what he will do after graduation.
