1 p LEONA VALERIA BRENNEMAN Leona December 22. 1928 Glee Club 11,2,3,41. Here we meet one of the quietest members of the class. S-he may be shy, but she always has a friendly Hi for anyone she meets. Leona is a native of Blue Ball, and entered N.H.H.S. as a freshman. She has taken the Commercial side of school life and has developed her typing ability to a rapid 'rate of speed. Al- ready she dreams of taking dictation in a future secretarial position. Leona raised her voice in song with the soprano section of the Glee Club for four years. She has the sweetest, kindest air about her and she does very well in the domestic arts. Leona even bakes cakes! Along with her quiet manner and pleasing habits, Leona always-has time' to help a friend in need. She will go places with her personality. RUTH AMANDA BRUBAKER - Ch wry March 7, 1929 Oflice Secretary 1413 Hockey 11,215 Maefazine Contest Manager 1419 Building and Grounds Secretary 141g Business Staff, Leoninus 1413 G.A.A. 141g Manager Girls' Sports 1415 Field and Track 1313 Color Guard 13,41 ' Ruthie, our tall striking blonde, hails from the neighboring town of Blue Ball. Cherry, as she is called, joined us in ninth grade and has been an active member of our class. She is well liked by all, but, she seems to prefer the opposite sex and can often be seen in their company. Cherry has been an active member in sports and has help- ed to manage the girls basketball team during the first semester this year. She is an ardent commercial student and could often be seen dashing' to the ofiice to ring that buzzer. She also help- ed to manage the magazine contest and did a good job. She is still puzzled about the future. Perhaps she will become a secre- tary or a housewife . . . who knows? ROBERT JOHN COLLINS Petey A September 9, 1928 Basketball 12,3.41g J-V Captain 1319 Varsity Captain 141g Baseball 1313 Soccer 13, 413 Member of Patrol 11,2,3,41g Patrol Lieutenant 1313 Co-Captain Patrol 1415 Class Ofiic-er 1313 Editorial Staff T.C.N. 1415 Editorial StaH, Leoninus 141. Petey has been with us since he started school in first grade. He was born in Honey Brook, but moved to New Hol- land at the age of three. 4 Petey is the owner of that 'hearty laugh that can be heard after a member of the class has pulled a corny joke. Sports are Petey's chief interest. Shoot it, shoot it cry the students from the bleachers as Petey makes a perfect shot from the center of the fioor, chalking up two more points for New Holland. He has played on the basketball team for the past three years and was chosen captain of the varsity this year. Petey participates in sports other than basketball and is regarded as a very good athlete. Page Eleven

h CARL WILMER ADAMS Adams December 21, 1928 Glee Club 13,41 3 Business Staff T. C. N. 13,41 g Publicity Committee, Senior Play 1415 Senior Play Usher 141 3 Business Staff Leoninus 141. This good-looking, dark-haired senior is one of the com- muters from Blue Ball. He is often seen in the New Holland Meat Market sewing steaks or other produce to the town people. Carl also likes to hang-out at Sprecher's as do many other members of the Senior Class. ' . His cheery face can be seen- in many of Miss McCor1nack's commercial classes and he never fails to add his timely remarks after a joke. Carl's interests are varied, but one of his favorite sports is ice-skating. His dad's green car is often seen at one town or another near Blue Ball. With his experience as a bookkeeper and storekeeper, Adams will be a valuable asset to the Meat Market or any other business with which he would be affiliated. JEAN FLORENCE BAIR Jean January 30, 1928 Glee Club 11,2,3,41 3 Patrol 12.,3,41g Usher, 'Senior Play 141. Jean joined our class in ninth grade as a rather quiet littlc freshman and has held that trait ever since. Our school seem- ed quite large and strange to Jean since she came from East Earl, which only has a one-room school-building. It didn't take too long until she became acquainted and was ready to receive as much knowledge as she could possibly acquire. The Glee Club has claimed Jean during her four years in school, and she enjoys learning new songs which the Glee Club acquires from time to time. Jean has also proven to be quite an efficient and faithful patrolman. When the buzzer rings for classes to change, she dashes out to her post quick as a iiash. Jean expects to enter a hospital to become a nurse after graduation. With her kindness and willingness to help others, we are sure she will be a second Florence Nightingale. MARY ALICE BRENEMAN Bunny February 24, 1923 Glee Club 13,415 Editorial Staff, T. C. N. 141, Patrol 1313 Dramatics Club 1113 Girls' Chorus 11,21g G.A.A. 121 3 Ofiice Secretary 141. Bunny was born in Beartown. Before entering New Hol- land as a Junior, she attended Morgantown High School. Since coming to New Holland, she has proven herself a worthy com- mercial student. Because of her commercial ability Mary Alice was chosen as Office Girl for the second semester of the school term. She can continually be heard asking a member of the class, What time is it? She wants to ring those buzzers on time. ' Although she is one of the shortest members of the class, she has a rather dominating character. It is quite obvious that Bunny has made friends with the students as well as the teachers. Mary Alice is very busy with the office work, but she is able to spare a few minutes for reading some good books. She also lends her voice to the Glee Club. What Bunny has in mind for the future is rather in- definite at the present time, but whatever her choice may be we know she will succeed. Page Ten

4 1-fl 1 137! 3 A---12gf -L . -vi 6 CHARLES WILLIAM DUTTENHOFER Duty June 6, 1928 Class Treasurer 123g Glee Club 11,2,4Dg Editor, Leo- ninus 1455 Editorial Staff, T.C.N. 12,435 Movie Com- mittee 12,4Jg Patrol 11,2,4J. Dutt hails from Churchtown and spent three years of his high school life at New Holland. The other year was spent at San Francisco, Calif. While visiting in San Francisco, Charles was fortunate enough to obtain a position as a Messenger Boy at the U.N.O. Conference. He can tell some very interesting stories about situations that arose there. If there are any com' ments from a corner of the room, you can rest assured that they are Dutt's. Whatever the topic, he seems to have some inter- esting views about it. and when Charles doesn't understand a problem, he is sure to get a complete explanation of it. Playing the piano is a pastime for Dutt, but he has no de- sire to take up music as a career . . . he would rather be an un- dertaker. O-o-oh, Dutt, what a career! JANET MARIE EMERY Snooks April 29, 1928 Band 11,2,3,4J 5 Orchestra 11,2,3,4b 3 Editorial Staff 135 g Class Secretary 1315 Class Treasurer 11,313 Dra- matic Club 1113 Artisan Club 125, Music Club 12,1 Clarinet 'Sextet l1,2J. This petite, dark-haired miss entered our class in twelfth grade. She formerly attended Upper Leacock High School. Janet can often be seen tackling her trig problems and won- dering just why she can't get the right answer. She is the only girl in trig class, but that doesnit seem to bother her. She has shown a great talent for drawing and music. We are sure that she will succeed in either of these fields. Janet has also helped in the cafeteria during the noon-hour. Snooks', seems to be a firm believer in the old saying Silence is Golden, but her laughter is heard many times during the day. She seems to ignore the opposite sex, but we are sure that her attitude will soon change. We know she will have good luck in any field of work she chooses. MARY EBY FOX Marie September 18, 1923 Glee Club 145, Editorial Staff, T.C.N. 141. Mary hails from the near-by town of Terre Hill, and is bet- ter known to her close friends as Marie, She is very adroit in speech-making. They are never of mediocre standing, for Marie makes the Senior class gasp with admiration as she fluent- ly delivers her speeches. Mary is also an ardent Home Econom- ics student. She has helped to whip up many delectable dishes and has shown her ability to sew a fine seam. Mary also believes in the fact that Silence is Golden, but her pleasing personality and attractive simile wins her many friends. She spends much of her leisure time reading books and preparing for her entrance to college. She also takes quite a bit of interest in Glee Club and T.C.N. The Honor Roll seldom appears without Mary's name on it, for she's always been an industrious student. The academic course has claimed Mary ever since entering High School. Marie wants to enter college and some day be a teacher. Page Twelve
