Whitt was lacking in experi- ence was made up by the team's fine spirit, its cooperation, and willing- ness to learn. Mr. Townsend did a line job in replacing Coach Bick- nell who volunteered his services to the United States Armed Forces. The first line consisting of Berglund, Smith and Townsend did most of the scoring. They were backed up by some fine defensemen and two capable goalies, Bickford and Cornwell, who alternated in the cage. With many players returning, next year's team is predicted to be in line for a successful season. VARSITY BASEBALL This year New Hampton has put on the field a team of which it may well be proud. Even in the early days of practice, Coach Shields was encouraged to see that he had promising candidates for every posi- tion, and some to spare. Ward, Koehler, Kinney and Chase furnished two able batteries. The fielding was well handled by veterans and ex- perienced newcomers alike. In the infield, Cates, Kelley, Christgeau, and johndrow have been the usual starters, with Berglund, Wellington, Peter- son and Whitman in the outfield. Backing up this fielding, the team has shown real hitting power in all games so far. SCORES AND SCHEDULE Bristol H. S.
